I just bought a HiCap DR which I’m using to power the preamp section in my Supernait 3. I use a NAP250 DR as the power amp (supernait amp isn’t used). It sounds great!
When I got the HiCap I was surprised that the signal to the NAP250 goes from the HiCap rather than from the Supernait. I also see that the HiCap has two amp out sockets.
Does this mean I can add a second NAP250 and connect it to the second amp out socket on the HiCap, and then use each NAP250 as a stereo amp, one for the tweeters and one for the woofers on my speakers (monitor audio 300 gold 5g)?
Yes, you can add a second 250 and use it just as you suggest. I’d suggest that if you have funds available you should swap the Supernait for a NAC 282. It will make far more difference than adding a second 250.
As @HungryHalibut has said, get yourself a NAC 282. Then get yourself another HiCap DR to feed both channels of the 282. It is a game changer in a very big way.
The thing about using 2 HiCap DR’s with a 282 though is to make shure they are at least the same year of manufacture. If they are not, then have them both serviced by Darren. It won’t cost an arm and a leg, and both DR’s will be the same for the next 13 to 15 years.
I think this one of those threads where we will just have to agree to differ on this HH. Having tried both the Supercap and 2 DR’s in my system…the 2 DR’s are staying
If you read enough forum posts about the 282 you will find some posts from people who preferred its sound with one Hicap, some with two Hicaps, and some with a Supercap. My advice would be that you should never assume that more (expensive) always means better, and make your decisions based on your own listening experiences, not on forum posts.
