Hifi Estimate: money no object

Might not be so impressive now as the years passed take a toll on the old hearing system :ear::ear:

Don’t forget the diamanté trim for the buttons!

… And a personal audio operative assistant on beck & call, of course.

I think it would still be pretty good!

If I could I’d start with an amazing room acoustically and add the bespoke components to that.

Oooooh I like it! Your answer is basically NOTHING! Zen first and then I’ll see how I feel. I can hear you chiming a triangle around the room like the Dalai Lama before deciding which system to go for

Given that that just about sums up everyone’s spend, a scan of the system pics thread or a read of many people’s profiles will tell you the answer (including that mist critical of components you strangely have excluded, the speakers)…

Money buys ugly.

I’m staying clear of the speaker minefield :zap:

Don’t forget there are some regions where it’s culturally acceptable to gold plate and emerald encrust anything.

You’re all thinking about esoteric expensive hi fi. But I’m imagining a solid platinum Klipsh soundbar with saphire buttons and a 5000 ruby trim priced at $50 million.

How are money no object speakers more of a minefield than money no object electronics?

It’s all a pointless pursuit of the unobtainable as the law of biological dimishing returns kicks in when the inevitable ravages of ageing take their toll on the auditory and hearing systems. Better spend the cash on high-end hearing aids :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye::sunglasses:

Speakers are even more boring than black boxes :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:, that’s why.

If you need to ask then you definitely can’t afford it.

It’s a strange question. How long is a piece of string? There’s a lot of mega expensive gear around, just take your pick.

I think very much the reverse - aside from their much greater contribution to sound character, speakers come in a much greater variation of sizes and shapes! But my question was because it seems weird fantasising about mega expensive sources and amps, but completely ignoring speakers,

Maybe it’s a case of ‘all that glitters is not gold’… :yum:

Maybe it’s a case of ‘never mind the quality, feel the width’ :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Two things. Without the boring speakers you wouldn’t be ble to listen to the boring black boxes.

And…

Speakers without a doubt contribute more to the sound that you will hear than anything else. So kinda strange to ignore them…

If you find it all boring then why are you bothering? I’m getting the feeling more and more that this thread is a wind-up.
