C5. The G5 was overpowering at 65inches.
The 8 year old Sony is going to a friend. It was getting a little dull and cloudy but has been a faithful servant.
I wanted a Panasonic but who knows if they will be here next year.
A new Sony at this level comes with its own sound system that I do not want.
Hopefully it will play nicely with the Dp 9000 bluray and Anthem 540 av receiver.
John Lewis will get it up the stairs, unpack it and set it up. Too much for me.
Early birthday present whilst the last of 2025 stocks remain

The G5 comes in smaller sizes.

My nephew also thought the G5 was a bit too full on picture wise and thus also went for a C5 and he has been very impressed with it.

If I was in the market for a new TV it would also be an LG and a choice between G5 and C5, the picture quality is stunning.

Enjoy your new TV.

But still very very bright. I suppose you can fiddle in the menus but I felt the C5 in filmmaker mode would suit me best.

Hi Nick, the G5 isn’t bright, the whole image is closer to reality. The ‘brightness’ of the screen is obviously totally adjustable and the extra nits available are really for use with hdr, where no tv can cope fully with yet. It’s bizarre that hdr content is still too advanced for tvs. HDR will appear slightly dark, especially in the shadow areas and movies from the UB9000 will not appear as the director intended or even as you maybe used to seeing from the pre-oled days. There are so many advantages of oled, that the viewer forgives its limitations. The G5 has better anti reflective coating, better menus, better processing for image movement etc, the C5 doesn’t even have the the brightness of the G4 MLA technology never mind the G5. The list goes on.

Anyone suggesting the C5 looks better or ‘less bright’ than the G5 has no idea what they are talking about.

P.S. filmmaker mode is awful.

All with due respect:grinning_face:

But for context, it also costs ~£1k more…

I thank you for your respect Sir.
The world is full of expert opinion and there are only so many paths of learning we can take.

Phil Hinton and the crew at AV Forums seem knowledgeable and fair so I have learnt to trust them.
I paid a lot,lot less than the RRP. The G5 is considerably more expensive.

That’s the only sensible thing you said. Except you spend a grand on the 4K player and £20 plus on 4Ks.

Shhh. I don’t want to wake the Count up.

It was calibrated yesterday and the sound system better integrated.
What was a fine whole is now a pretty super set up running solely off the Firestick. One tiny remote.

Not satisfied with that he set about moving the Falcon speakers attached to the Accuphase mm by mm to try and firm up the bass.
