Not quite Mike, and nothing to do with “pecking order”. Vervent is the holding company that has Focal and Naim. The deal will effectively see Barco owning both Focal and Naim. It will be business as usual for a bit while they get to know things, and likely a period of consultation with those involved in the day to day business before we learn of plans going forward.
The OP says their system sounds good and is recent.
No matter what happens, that can’t change the system you physically already have so I don’t see worry as worth spending time on. All warranties are legally binding through any manufacturer transfer.
There’s bound to be a noticeable dip in sales due to the wait and see crowd. That I do fully understand. Buying something new, especially with other upgrade plans, is probably something I’d hold off on for the next 24 months. For stuff in my rack, I’d enjoy it and not lose sleep.
Most of the time Naim can service it. It was one reason I went to Naim (over L**n) 35 years ago
I do appreciate that there have been supply chain issues - especially on CDs . I have a twenty plus years CDX2.2 . I had it serviced about seven years ago - and it is still going strong (touching wood)
I can’t say that I haven’t had my money’s worth , and if it goes then I will get an Audiolab 9000 .
I also have a 15 year old UnitiQute 2 , and I may well get it serviced - and use it as a DAC .
I hesitate to use the phrase USP ( unique selling point) but it is a strength of Naim and any new owner should be wary of spending good money buying Naim and then discarding an asset of their new company
I’m no finance expert, but wouldn’t a prospective buyer pour over the situation in the finest detail before the transaction? I know i would. I hope it turns out well for Naim and Salisbury.

That’s makes two of us then.
My gut feel is that it’s a good thing for Naim, its future product development and certainly for its financial security. I can say everybody I have spoken to inside Naim (and this includes people who I consider friends and who wouldn’t just feed me the corporate line) have indicated they feel BARCO’s acquisition is a good thing.
So I won’t be holding off buying, indeed quite the reverse! I’m more sure than ever now that Naim will still be around to service and support my kit far into the future. Naim aren’t daft, they know that people buy their kit on the basis of sound, reliability and the prospect of solid long term support. It’s a key selling point! They make a profit servicing and supporting their kit, so there’s simply no incentive for any new corporate owner to reduce this activity.
BARCO have acquired two of the best audio electronics companies in the world with world class brands and extensive engineering expertise in circuit design, analogue and digital engineering, streaming etc. They’ve no doubt done their due diligence and are now figuring out how to augment their various future product lines with input from Naim and Focal.
In today’s troubled economic environment BARCO also probably see value in having a more diversified product line. It’s one of the things ATC do well I think - they are in the pro and consumer arenas, so are far less susceptible to a consumer market recession.
That’s how I see it anyhow.

Of course in a way Naim used to provide into the pro market with amps for the BBC.
easier said than done, I’m afraid.

Yes, sorry, I wanted to send a DM and couldn’t figure out a better way of doing it (other than flagging my own post).
I agree, but they are owned by some one else, they call the shots, probably

What’s a “DM”? ![]()
DM = Direct Message. Members can message me by flagging a post.
Oh well on that case, I don’t see what the problem was for “alleycat”.
Clearly there wasn’t one for you…
Let’s just say it was something that was niggling me and potentially relevant to this thread that I though Richard might be able to answer which he kindly did.
It’s slightly untidy but works, apologies to others who may have had alerts to thread updates.
