I want to upgrade and replace the 5si combined amplifier with a 250.2 amplifier I would like to refer to everyone's opinions

I am observing the price of a second-hand Naim 250.2 amplifier The price of machines with numbers ranging from 330000 to 340000 is around 16000 Hong Kong dollars
I want to replace the amplifier in my bedroom system It is a streaming player from ifi zen stream to Lavry da11 decoding pre stage to Naim Nait 5si amplifier, pushing Proac t10 signature version speaker I want to directly connect the 205.2 backend to the da11 frontend output The bedroom size is 14 square meters
I would like to consult with everyone Is this upgrade feasible Thank you all for helping me analyze it

sorry . the name is naim nap 250.2

A 250.2 will certainly work, but they generally perform best when paired with a Naim preamp, so buying one without the chance to test its performance with the Lavry is risky.

You would need a balanced to unbalanced cable made up to connect them. It should be easy enough to have one made up, as long as whoever does it understands the pin layout of the 250.2 input.

Your best bet is to acquire a Naim preamp. Naim power amps work best with Naim preamps. i have 3 Nap 250-2s and they sound great. You will also need a power supply but you will have an excellent system upgrade.

As others have indicated it’s not a good idea. With Naim power amps the correct operating parameters are defined by a Naim pre amp. It will probably work but the results will be unpredictable.

I’m not sure what budget equal 16000 HK$ but why not buy a Nait 50 to replace the 5i amp.?

NN50 will be miles better.

An old Nap 250.2 will need service, beside this, its not the very best of the 250 range and would make your setup a mullet.

Thank you, yes. I checked and found out that the signal output of the da11 with a front-end is balanced. We need a pair of balanced signal lines, and the other end is a pair of analog signal inputs similar to a balanced head. The pins are defined on the back of the 250.2 input socket where there is a graphic annotation. I have even contacted the wiring master to connect a pair of signal lines to a balanced head and input it to the input signal head behind the 250.2

Thank you, I have also checked and found that there are currently 202 second-hand models available, with a price of approximately 950 pounds and a serial number of around 450000
272 decoding stream with a front-end code of around £ 1300 and a serial number of around £ 41000
That budget will almost double
250.2 Level number 330000, around 1500 pounds
I want to take two steps to make it easier economically First, connect 250.2 directly to the front-end signal output of da11 Play for 1-2 years before reaching the Naim level, and if you want to surpass the pre level quality of da11, it is estimated that there is still a gap of 202 It is best to use the front level of 272 and 282

thank u.

The Nait50 is a newly released machine with a high second-hand price of around 1700 pounds. The serial number is around 540000, which is too expensive for me to quote This price is almost enough to buy a second-hand Supernait2 with a serial number of around 350000 I’m hesitating
My current budget is around 2000 pounds

It’s viable as a temporary step I suppose provided it works and sounds OK, but the question is will it? 1-2 years is quite a long time to put up with something that won’t really be right though.

The other thing is that I question whether the ifi Zen Stream is really up to the job even just used as a digital transport with the Lavry. Many people seem to think that digital transports, whether CD or streaming, are of far less importance than the DAC. My experience has been that they matter a great deal and have a profound influence on the sound. When I upgraded from an entry level Melco server to a much more expensive one the improvement was massive. Both were used with the same DAC.

The basic problem as it stands is that your system as a whole just isn’t good enough for your speakers. You need to ugrade it all IMO if you want to keep the Proacs. The simplest solution from where you are to getting a balanced system would be to just change the speakers for something more suited to the Nait 5si and your source. But I appreciate that’s not the way you want to go.

I believe it’s possible to configure your Lavry to have an unbalanced output. So I think your best option would be to use that setting and have a suitable cable made up. A Naim preamp would be a better solution if your budget allows. However, the 202 is not a great match for the 250.2: it’s partner in the range was the 282 which would be a well balanced amp. Remember that these preamps use an external power supply, so you would also require a Hicap. Also consider if you have enough space for all these boxes. They really need a separate shelf for each one.

Thank you for your suggestion
The IFI Zen streaming player is indeed a very beginner level entry My long-term plan for the later stage is to upgrade to a mid-range streaming player
The Lavry da11 decoder is also at an entry-level level. I am also planning to replace da11 with a 272 dac
The first step now is to replace the 5si amplifier with a 250.2 or 250dr Add another 272 and finally replace it with a high-quality streaming player We need to take three steps After completing all three steps at once, the budget is estimated to be over 4000 euros, even if it’s a second-hand purchase

Thank you
I have been searching for the past week, and I am already confused and have lost my vision I am completely lost in the chaos and complexity of my heart
There are too many second-hand options, and I don’t know what to do
1 . Number 250.2 340000, price around 1700 euros
2. 250dr 430000 number 2250 euros
3. 250dr 490000 number 2800 euros
4. 272 420000 Number 1500 Euros
5. 200 260000 number 1100 euros
6 . 200dr+202 430000 Number 430000 Number 2500 Euros
I can do it

  1. First, purchase 250.2 or 250dr and directly connect it to the da11 front-end output RCA XLR line to enter the DIN 3-pin port of 250 I carefully investigated the users of Lavry da11 and they told me that it is supported by the Lavry manufacturer to directly input the front-end output of da11 into the back-end amplifier The front stage of da11 is designed with adjustable voltage levels for direct connection to the rear stage, and the sound quality is very good

I can do it
2. Collect second-hand 272 or 282+power supplies later
3 . A one-time fee of £ 2500 for 202+200+Napsc small power supply, still connected to da11 but with da11’s front-end function turned off, directly outputting a fixed signal level
I have seen too many second-hand machines and too many choices, and I have lost myself
And we also need to be mentally prepared that the 5si agile and lightweight texture will be lost after replacing it with a later stage amplifier
After thoroughly scrutinizing it, I even felt that it would be more rational to continue using my system while watching to save money and accumulate more budget …

As I said above, it will work, but Naim power amps work optimally when they are fed by a matching Naim analogue preamp. That’s just the way Naim design their amps, so although Lavry are correct in saying that the DAC can drive a power amp directly, that isn’t quite the same as getting the best out of a Naim power amp.

Imho it’s better to prepare budget for a proper Naim pre+power setup.
3rd party preamp+Naim power amp=disappointment – it’s the Naim preamp matters most in my experience (and what I heard from other), which also reflected by the pricing.

Yes, I will definitely add Naim’s front stage 272 282 in the end, and in the next step, I will add Hicap’s power supply to the front stage to improve the effect

Step 1: Stage 250.2 or 250dr
Step 2: Pre stage 272 or 282
Step 3: Add hip power to the front stage
The estimated budget for purchasing a second-hand item is around 5000 euros I only have around 2000 euros now Continue to use 5si while observing and saving money

Yes, thank you
I just don’t have enough budget to purchase all the front-end and back-end power supplies at once
