With a Supernait and a CDX2 I much preferred the S400s over the S600s.

It’s the configuration I heard a few years ago in Padova at a mini audio show. The demo was run by a guy I know who worked for Suonoecomunicazione.

I too found the S-400s excellent with the SN, I still think that they are not the top in treble refinement and extension, but in a large space enough they’re a great floor stander, and a wonderful piece of design as I never tire of repeating…

Thanks…

A friend of mine here  suggests Linn Kan 1s, BTW, which I had a long time ago. I like the size and proportions and am actually keeping an eye on some…

When we did a comparison at Dev’s place I thought the Kans were my favourite with an LP12 vinyl front end, but with a digital source I preferred n-Sats over IBLs and Kans by a fair margin.

Absolutely! I had Kan II with Lp12 and Naim CB, It was a really fabolous systems, not so good with digital. Much Better with Olive CD3.5/Hc Nait 3/Hc. Definetely nSat a muc Better all rounder. However i’ d like a Kan again for nostalgia, paired with Nait50 and Lp12

Is the lesson from that that Kans were a designed to be a great match for the original LP12, with no Cirkus or Kore/Keel or Lingo?

With a 300 252 CDS3/555 I much preferred S400 over the S600s.

600’s simply need a large space and are preferably driven active.

I have both. The 600 with 500 system and matching pretty nicely with the room which Is the smallest of three. The bass is not overwhelming Of course with a larger wall i’ d have more breath and air around instruments. Max B. usually likes this system even more than me perhaps.

With those electronics I’d love Bose 901s or B&O TV speakers…

Possibly yes?

After all, buying loudspeakers is like taking an actor to live in your house, who will read for you novels, poems, plays. Always with one voice, with few different intonations.

You may hope to be welcoming Ben Kingsley and discover that Jason Statham now occupies the Shakespear chair… Is it so strange that people change gear or hesitate for months?

Or is it that you take what comes and, little by little, you end up having just the scripts from the Star Wars saga read aloud each night?

That’s why I’m hesitating.

Sounds like you want actors rather than film stars.

My Briks would be Robin Willams. Imagine his reading of Shakespeare!
Never a dull moment!

Yes, they have…
I may have something to post later today.

As posted elsewhere, I went for a pair of n-Sats.
Didn’t know them personally, heard good things about them.

So I’m out of my impasse, and definitely into pathology.

Good choice! N Sats and Sub were great sounding speakers paired with Nait 5.
