Iām limiting my expectation levels but thatās partly because I seem to have a reasonable sound coming from 3:11 and I donāt want a fundamental shift that causes me loads work to regain some sort of balance again. My only concern is that we heard about 3:12 quite a few months ago, and I thought it was due for imminent release - some time in November I thought? However, itās been much longer, which makes me think an easy glitch free update may have been optimistic? Still, Iād rather have the wait for something worthwhile than another 3:10 clone.

I have this feeling that 3.12 is ready, but that Naim is waiting for February 20-th? Thatās when Bristol starts, right? Maybe a good moment to announce something new, like support for Amazon Music or Apple Music?
You may have that feeling but no, itās not going to happen. My hope is on delivery by the Easter Bunny.

They must be really struggling with all this, do we actually know what the update is trying to do? Is it just sound related only, bug fixing or adding new features? Or all the above.

There really is no point speculating, though it passes the time I suppose.
Just asking if anyone actually knows what the update is for, that all.
Those who do know wonāt say, hence why speculation is pointless.
In the software industry, companies canāt wait to announce what is coming (sometimes announcing features that never actually make it into the product). Unfortunately it does not work that way here. Or maybe I do nāt want to know, because I am pretty happy with 3.11

At least here we can console ourselves that 3.11 has all the features we need and sounds good, so any further updates arenāt mandatory for us. Until a certificate expires, or you need a later firmware to continue access to the radio service or something 
Itās a pity naim donāt publish a roadmap, or even give any updates.
If there is some fantastic new feature coming, great - everyone wants it to launch trouble free and knowing it is coming gives leeway on delay, builds excitement.
If 3.12 is just fixes and tweaks then a release which some thought might be November now slipping to April doesnāt inspire confidence.
Definitely wonāt be installing the new firmware on day 1 this time!

Well if they have hew products coming out it certainly wouldnāt hurt them to say, as they donāt have much left these days as it is, so its not likely to effect sales is it and could build interest and might put someone on hold from going elsewhere if they knew.
But then what do i know and as you can see from the previous year they obviously know what they are doing.

So beginning of April. For a firmware that was initially planned for November in the year prior thatās quite a delayā¦
But hey, it is what it is. If it aināt ready, it aināt ready. And then thereās little point in releasing

Software seems to be a struggle over at Naim. Maybe people left too so itās even worse. Or they add more. Sw engineers are hot cake on the market so they often move between companies.
Note the word āhopingā! Nothing is promised.
