Why when I select play on either my naim app or on my NDX does the input shift from aux to aux 1 on my nac 282 and I have to manually press the aux button to get sound
Are you using the automation connection?
It may be the input selection you have setup in “Input Settings”.
I run mine through HDD on my 282, which uses Pre Amp 3 in the input settings.
Aux 1 is Pre Amp 6.

The way these preamps work, each input on the back can be/is individually mappable to an input selection button on the front. First things first, ensure that the input on the rear of the 282 that the NDX is on is truly mapped to AUX and not AUX 1.
The manual tells you how to do this.
