Inside NDS

I changed to Neotech 1008 now and it’s less dark and more speed, better transients with NDS. Better match IMO.

Using digital out on NSS 333 will disable the audio settings meaning it’s locked volume out. Cannot see a way around it. My Lindemann Bridge II do allow volume control on digital out.

Once one accept that all things digital can tune the presentation like analogue then you more easy can put parts together to get the sound you want to achieve

That sounds promising, one would hope that the streaming section and the PSU is better than the Limetree.

It’s so much easier to buy than sell

Nothing fancy, just long standard ethernet cable´s and a Cisco switch.I mostly use USB sticks.

USB?

I tried usb on a unity lite - from zenith server it was so much better, even with WiFi. But have not tested it with nds. You need to try a good Ethernet cable someday. As strange as it is - it makes a real difference

Yes USB,the NDS reads them very well, much better than the nDac(which isn´t bad ).
Will try a good Ethernet cable someday, thanks :+1:

Yes - with ndac it was not working perfect with usb

The USB on the backside was better, but not nearly as good as the NDS .

Great ! :sparkles:Not so much money in the NDS anyway
,as you have digital as main source .
As you are super happy with N50 /Tannoys,not much to do there.

Can never have too many boxes

The answer is to buy an ND5XS2 and sell the 333 if that’s the case. The advantage of the 333 comes from the DAC implementation and analog output stage. Using it as a streamer only provides no advantage over an ND5XS2.

Just moved to naked NSS 333 and I must say the tonality is very similar to NDS + 555PSDR with NSS 333 or Lindeman Bridge II as a streamer. I’m not sure I would notice a change if someone did it behind my back. It’s the same feeling I had last time I made a comparison between them both.

Then there is more to the presentation of course but tonality is very similar. With a PS on NSS 333 it pushes it to extract more like a Naim PS more or less always do. Bass gets more definition and tightens up, greater separation, more inner details etc etc.

It’s resonable to think they wanted to make a box with similar quality as NDS and pushed further with a PS. And then release a new ND555 that betters the existing model.

Like this best and decreasing

  1. NC ND555 + PS
  2. ND555 + PS
  3. NC NSS 333 + PS
  4. NSS 333 and NDS + PS
  5. NDX2 + PS
  6. NDX2
  7. ND5XS2
