I am disgusted in a major way. I have auto standby set to never and put it in standby at bedtime. When I woke today and took it out of standby, nothing worked. No streaming. No CDP.
My dealer has been super. We did FaceTime and he tried to guide me through as much as I can try to do given my disabilities. I can’t get to the back of the equipment to do a factory reset or unplug stuff. All the power lights are on. The dealer’s tech is making a house visit on Tuesday. The dealer is beyond reproach.
I am not sure that instant on is enabled. The tech will check that.
This is more of a rant, as this is not the first time that this has happened. I sure wish my NC stuff was more stable. Again my dealer has been spectacular.
This is disappointing indeed. How was it resolved the previous times it’s happened? Is it a better bet to leave the auto standby on? Presumably it’s designed for going into auto standby by default?
I don’t remember how it was resolved. If I have auto standby set to the default of 20 minutes than my P10 stops after 20 minutes. Also default auto standby is not flawless. Sometimes when it is set to auto standby 20 minutes it does not go into auto standby. It is very flaky.
According to Naim, the signal sensing does not work as designed for turntables, which should be addressed in the next firmware. The work around, according to Naim is to set auto standby to never, which did not work today.
I can’t help sorry, but it all seems very odd. It seems to be a thing with modern technology these days that products and software are not overly reliable. If you look at Apple software these days, it’s not close to the “it just works” reliability it was 5 years ago.
Hi Jaybar, I think I’ve experienced this as well (maybe once in 12 months). I feel your pain. Usually a full power down, leave a few seconds, and then restore power/restart has worked for me. If this is too difficult for you could your husband help? It is just turning off at the wall socket and then back on really.
I have used my 222 and later my 332/333 with the kit set to instant on, with auto standby turned off since purchase and have never experienced this. Occasionally, some other electronic flakiness that is resolved either by a power down or, on rare occasions, with a factory reset.
You can factory reset the 332 and 333 without getting to the back of the 332/333; the manuals explain how to do this via the app or remote controls.
This response, sounds like going straight to cutting your nose off to spite your face. The dealer is sending someone around, which seems like a better response if the customer is unable to resolve the issue themselves without assistance.
In several of the above threads, a number of us did strongly suggest to ‘Leave it all on, all the time’ → because it would sound better anyway, (which was another of your questions).
So my advice continues to be, avoid standby, stop worrying about this, and enjoy the music.
I leave my system full on 24x7 and it sounds great and i have none of these issues. Ignore the standbye modes and all their confusion and problems…you will enjoy your system more and your life more.
@Martinzero We will see what happens with the tech visit. If a component has failed it will be returned to the dealer for repair. I think it is more likely to be a reconfiguration The goal is to increase stability. The tech is coming Tuesday. The NC 332/333/250/NVCTT components were installed June 2025. The power supplies were added a few months later. The dealer has consistently done “the right thing” and I am sure this will be the case now as well.
It is ok to leave the system on. If there is a glitch it will require unplugging from the mains (to reset itself) and plugging back in again. Maybe you can ask someone to do this for you?

The only Naim New Classic I have is a pair of excellent NAP350s. I leave mine in standby mode. This means they go to sleep after 20 minutes of no music and wake up when they hear something. Okay, so maybe by the time they wake up, rub their eyes, and actually switch on, they’ve missed the first bar of the first tune. If that were a real issue, I could just press their on buttons and wait 5 seconds. I leave the rest of my Original Classic rig on, but choose to have power amps off. Maybe it makes a sonic difference, but I’ve never fretted about that.
So yes, you should be able to have your setup in auto standby mode. It is, after all, the design. No one likes workarounds, especially if you have paid good money for the gear. And yes access to the back of my NAP350s is not easy, even for an athlete like myself.
