Saved my day. So - if the range is enough I can do via route without unity gain. The manual states that with older pre you should dial to 12 o clock- that’s too risky ![]()

Sorry asking much - is there any chance to look what db range is behind the plus / minus 30? I can also send an email to naim support if this is more valid. Really would like to have the Option as I am currently doing (pre 9 o’clock, avr Front speaker: +12db, rear and center approx -12db)
I will have a go, but I have my doubts as to whether I’ll be able to dig anything up - the design engineers have probably moved on from Naim by now!

Neil.
Thanks a lot for trying ![]()
You’ve made my day.
Do you suffer from hum issues
Yes. I have an av2 and with NAP’s attached it works very good. A musical av preamplifier which lifts the enjoyment hugely.
Then I tried to use a Loewe subwoofer. As you perhaps know some models of Loewe subwoofers have power amp boards for the speakers. Using this sub - which has no ground in the power cable - created a clear grounding hum. Since there was no binding post for a ground cable I gave up using the av2 in this setup. Now I know what I can try next.
I am on the edge of buying an av2. One one hand it is smaller than my current avr (running hot as preamp only), it’s more naim, looks nice and I will save rack space (that is most important). Also it might suit my purpose with hd Sound from Blu-ray and dd/dts only from tv.
But it’s old tech and it’s a lot of cable fiddling with risks like hum and… who knows.
The AV2 is very much a Naim experience. It has all the idiosyncrasies and smart solutions possible. The device can almost entirely be configured with a dial and two buttons and you’ve seen Neil’s response above … I knew there was a solution for the grounding issue which I now know.
I use a Linn sizmik subwoofer. Don’t know if I will have the same problem with the av2. With my onkyo avr all is Fine.
As of recent events I am more hesitant in changing a running system. ![]()
But AI tells me that it is a wonderful solution with the excellent decoder inside the pana player.
Hi drago,
I believe the speaker level steps are 0.5dB
