Magnificent achievement, even the difficult final few episodes.
Heimat is yp there with The Wire, Breaking Bad, Our Friends in the North, and the wonderful Italian series The Best of Youth.

The Beatles Anthology on Disney, we sometimes forget how tight a band they were.
My wife is enjoying it but I am not. I have no empathy with any of the characters. I have watched 3 episodes but no more!
Bit tired of the mistreatment of Heron’s Slow Horses novels.
Especially the last half hour of series 3 .. Breaking into the grey books storage depot. Padding. Gary does well but is becoming a caricature. Where has the sly humour gone.
This is an attempt at something different by Colin Farrell.
Sugar finds the missing and lost for wealthy patrons. He cuts an Alain Delon samurai figure in an intricately plotted tale.He is a film buff as well. Reads Sight and Sounds and Cahiers du Cinema.
Mixed critical revues but as Ms Mangan in the Guardian thought it rubbish I knew it would sit well with me.
The Dr Who stable has a strange running mate: the war between the land and the sea.
BBC iPlayer UHD; Russel T Davies’ imagination of environmental catastrophe. Silly but fun.
What does that mean?

Spell checker problem … as it happens it could be wired but actually I meant weird.
RIBA House of the Year winner on Isle of Lewis Outer Hebrides UK , built Lewisian Gneiss and includes a Nait 50, fluted LP12 and speakers I can’t ID Kef ?? Linn??. Channel 4 UK. Beautiful House in a stunning location. Good taste in listening.
Just watched this conspiracy thriller on Prime. Fine work by Riz Ahmed. I also enjoyed his performance as the rock drummer battling deafness in Sound of Metal
Most reviewers agree that the first 2/3rds are fine but the last gets lost.
I have replayed the story time and time again in my mind but it still does not make sense.
If any one else watches it I would love some help.
Just finished watching the Night Manager, first series, on BBC iPlayer. We saw it when it was first released in 2016. Riveting plot and great performances from Hugh Laurie, Tom Hiddleston, Tom Hollander and Olivia Colman. So much better than much of the ‘crime’ drama that is produced nowadays.
I believe a second series is due for release imminently. I hope it will maintain the high standard set by the first.
Yes, we revisited Night Manager Series 1 again, to refresh our minds in anticipation of Series 2. Agree with everything you say about the high quality. It also felt a bit like Tom Hiddleston’s audition as the new James Bond.
Hi all. We’ve just finished watching the second season of 1923. Absolutely brilliant. I’ve got to hand it to Taylor Sheridan, fantastic story teller!
Thoroughly recommended!
Had fairly high hopes for it, but of the couple of episodes I’ve watched, probably a bit so-so and the kids don’t seem interested in upcoming episodes. Probably need to try again.
Quite harrowing in places, but as you say brilliant.
Very little he touches doesn’t shine.
Landman and Tulsa King have been recent favourites - still quite serious/tough themes with more modern settings interspersed with light hearted moments.
Hi,
Thank you for bringing Landman & Tulsa King to my attention. Now on my radar over the holiday period!
Have just started watching this. Its style is, as you say, different, and I’m quite liking that novelty. Will stick with it.
Have you watched the other Yellowstone prequels?
Still not finished Yellowstone as I found the prequels more interesting.
Actually I have albeit, completely in the wrong order! I enjoyed all of them. Although 1923 was my favorite. I was literally on the edge of my seat Sunday watching 3 episodes back to back!. Having said that it took me an age to get off to sleep that night as my brain was “buzzing”.
I really enjoyed Yellowstone, great story line. Very gritty supported by some excellent acting.
Sometimes when watching “these” programmes it is best to stay the distance as the ends justifies the means! Says me…having not ever seen Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad…so what do i know about anything!!!
The order of the prequels probably doesn’t matter too much as they’re all pretty good in my view.
If you can watch Game of Thrones I think it’s still pretty phenomenal viewing particularly earlier seasons as characters are developed. Saw a couple of episodes of breaking bad, but it wasn’t really one for me.
So many things to choose from these days it’s impossible to watch everything.
Not sure if you’ve seen much of Billy Bob Thornton (Landman) but he was fantastic in Prime Video’s legal show Goliath - well worth watching Season 1.
