Started watching last night, only 2-3 episodes in but certainly seems to improve after episode 1.
Brendan Gleeson does a good job as the big baddie.

Yep, it does get better and is an interesting addition to the spiderman universe but it’s abit formulaic for a noir. Did you choose B&W ?![]()
Watched the first episode last night after hearing Mr Fiennes talking on the radio. Excellent so far and connects with so much I encountered in business and changing old ensconced ideas and regimes. On the football side, Mrs Bruss ( a definite non fan) was so engaged that she had to hide her eyes when the penalties were taken. ![]()
No, I couldn’t find the option on the Prime App on AppleTV but probably wouyld have done so. I guess I could just turn display colour saturation right down. Thinking about it I didn’t check if there was a Prime App update.
During an episode, if you press the down area of the appletv remote circle button to bring up the sound and picture options, then press down again I got the option for colour or b&w playback. The choice made is remembered for future episodes.
Thanks will try next episode we watch - must check if Prima App needs an update or it’s because tvOS is slightly behind.
I’d imagine B&W would work very well.
Wife subscribed to HBO Max for a month (to watch the football) and as a result we’ve been watching The Pitt for the last few days.
I was reluctant as these hospital procedural dramas seem very samey.
It was on in the background and I’ve been sucked in. Fast moving, well acted and edited, but don’t watch it before supper, it can get a bit shocking. ![]()
Cheers,
Tony
Mesmerising show, and way too intense to binge. We manage one episode a week, and always end up having dinner while some gory procedure is shown in all its graphic horror.
PITT I assume, but is it just gore for gore’s sake?
Very little shocks me but I feel many things these days are designed to shock rather than entertain, there have been a couple of things on Prime recently we decided were just unnecessarily gruesome or gory and would have been more enjoyable without the visuals.
It doesn’t feel gratuitous. It adds to the verisimilitude, IMHO.
Fair enough, may take a look but potentially not available with the multitiude of streaming services I currently have.
Dear England on BBC 4K UHD.
I enjoyed the subject, because I love England games, but the drama was a little soft, dreamy, repetitive, lacked grit and quite a lot of the acting was a bit iffy. However, it was enjoyable and Southgate did a great job playing himself![]()
Tip Toe on Ch4 great cast and behind the humour there is tension and it looks like it’s going darker.
I suspect the subject matter won’t be for everyone (inter neighbour relationships, different live and attitudes) but the end of the first episode was a very funny cliffhanger that I sense will lead to darker place. Russel T Davis at full throttle.
That’s because they took a 2 hr play ( which was pacy and brilliant) and made it into a 4 hr TV series
The Pitt is fantastic TV and well worth of all the awards it has won. While you’ve got HBO Max, check out Task while you’re at it.
Have re-watched the whole of series 1 and 2 plus the ‘Polish Special’ film on i-player. That was the first time I have seen the follow on film.
Good that they used Bob Buzzard in the film - one of the best series characters I think. The bit where he ordered the mixed grill from hotel room service was funny. Interesting also how the definite 80s feel in series 1 had morphed into a 90s feel for the film.
Enjoying Criminal Record 2 on Apple and The Boroughs on Netflix.
Also liked Nemesis on Netflix. Police procedural with a difference.
Agree about ‘The Boroughs’. We’re three in and may binge the rest tonight.

We finished the Boroughs, I’ll let you draw your own conclusions, it was worth watching.
We enjoyed it.
