Iradio uniti 2

Plugged my old Uniti 2 in to sell but can’t get the Iradio to load or find stations. Is it no defunct?

There was a firmware update to address iRadio issues, version 4.9. Sounds like you need to update.

Thanks Chris. I’ve tried following the instruction box that pops up but it takes me to a cloudflare link that says it can’t connect! It’s a good age but can’t even find a link to an upgrade system either. The Uniti is on my naim app but…..

You can get the update from Naim’s website. It’s quite an involved process to update the firmware, which is all described in the notes with the firmware update. But if you follow them carefully then it’s not too hard to do.

However, you do need to ensure that your Uniti 2 is capable of being upgraded. You need to have the 192/24 board fitted. You can easily check that by checking the installed firmware using the remote and pressing the spanner or wrench button. You then navigate to the installed software information and check that the streamer version is shown with 3D at the beginning.

Thanks. Version appears to be 4.4.00! Can’t see anything with 3D

In that case you shouldn’t try to update it to 4.9. You might half manage it, but it can’t complete and you are potentially likely to brick it. But you could update it to 4.8 and that would mean it would still work with Tidal, which it won’t do with 4.4 firmware. You can go straight to 4.8 from 4.4 - no need to hunt out any intermediate updates.

But without 4.9, it does mean you can’t get internet radio on it anymore.

Cloudflare is having problems today. A number of services are reported down.

Thanks for the info and help….much appreciated

The availability of the update for download from the Naim website seems to come and go at random. Maybe ask Naim support if they can resolve this.

A Mk2 Uniti will be able to load the latest firmware. It’s only some of the earlier Mk1 models that can’t.

Are you sure all Uniti2 units had the 192/24 board Chris? The OP couldn’t see the 3D telltale in the firmware list. I’m also suspect that the Cloudfare issue he mentioned will be nothing to do with Naim.

Cloudflare going down stopped access to Naim link but working now. Appears I can sort out issue but gonna have to link laptop to Uniti and run a downloaded programme. Think I’ll sell it on and let the new owner sort it!

Hi David, yes, the arrival of the 24/192 board predated the release of the Uniti2.

Perhaps @Trevannie hasn’t found the right part of the menu that shows the board version - using the remote/front panel display (not the app):

24bit/192kHz capable streamers
are identified by displaying
3DXXXXX in the “BC SW” line
of their System Status screen
(Setup > Factory Settings >
System Status).

Will double check!

Back home and checked as advised!

The BC SW number does start with 3D followed by 5 numbers so looks like it should be ok. Have managed to get into the Naim update section as well and it says I will have to download the software by connecting the Uniti 2 and a computer! What could possibly go wrong :expressionless_face:

It seems like a faff when you do the update for the first time. Just be sure to follow the instructions exactly to the letter and you should be OK.

Good luck!
