Dad was also a fine tenor player.

I would enjoy hearing that again.

New on Qobuz.

I had the pleasure of seeing Tyner live in Paris in the early 1990s. A truly great artist.

Also on Tidal. Walk spirit, Talk spirit from the same album is terrific.

My autographed CD. :sunglasses: :+1:t2:

With Alex Garnett’s Dad, Willie, on that DJM LP as well. Terrible title !

Another good Montreux comp, just out:

Few old fellahs out doing’ their day job.

Paul is often in one of his more dreamy moods.
Ray sings, fiddles and plays some wonderfully incisive trumpet
Norris Turney pops up.
Hank,Raymond Fol,Al Hall and Oliver Jackson couldn’t be bettered.
Nice sound on Qobuz apart from the bonus Stompy where the piano seems to have Russ Conway at the keyboard.

Sonny fires old sleepy up (usual problem watch him on some of the Ellington you tube concerts)

Hank,Milt and Osie.
Reliable sound from RVG on Qobuz.

Instead of a reissue on expensive vinyl of music recorded over half a century ago (as seems to be de rigeur here ), something a bit more contemporary:

My most played album this month. This is a video of the recording of the second track:

Recommended a great modern trio jazz album

Three pick up groups recorded for Weinstock’s Prestige label and assembled by Jordi on Fresh Sounds.

If you struggle( or are interested) in identifying the trumpet playersThe FreshSounds web page for the cd has a run down of each lp.

Just straight modern jazz with a deep blue complexion. Wonderful.

On Qobuz.

Quite a big fan of the New York Trio. Love their romantic style of playing
One of the albums features Bill Charlap

Had less time to post here the last few weeks, but it didn’t mean I discovered some jewels. These two are recommended
