A rather ramshackle but still compelling version of the great spiritual jazz anthem.
Hi all,
I am loving this recent Keith Jarrett (not sure if it has already been flagged here.)
The Old Country track is particularly wonderful.
It’s really interesting hearing him with Paul Motian rather Jack D
Particularly enjoying it with the new streamer FW update.
Sabu Martinez/Sahib Shihab ‘The Distorted Sioux Indian’ from The Swedish Radio Recordings 1978. This track is a huge favourite of mine at the moment unfortunately it’s rare on vinyl only released by Swedish label Mellotronen in 2008.
What a line up.
Great album. ![]()
Just had a listen on Tidal. Great track.
Two new acquisitions, one on CD and a download. Two albums at opposite ends of the Jazz spectrum.
Consentrik Quartet by American guitarist Nels Cline is a pretty heavy going experimental album on the Free end of the spectrum at times, as well as some more melodic music. One of those albums that takes a few plays to appreciate.
Bag Vore Øjne Strømmer Drømme Sagte Forbi by Hvalfugl, a Danish trio is rather beautiful calming music. Think of some of Pat Metheny’s film music. I have a bit of difficulty classing this as Jazz as it is Scandinavian folk music, with Classical overtones.
Hi all,
A couple of recent vinyl purchases - quite different!
Smokin’ In The Pit - 70s/80s Steps with Brecker unleashing his unbelievable tenor…
Very much of the time, but good fun.
Indestructible - Great stuff from Art Blakey Jazz Messengers
Wayne Shorter and Lee Morgan strutting their stuff.
is the Indestructible the Blue Note Classic reissue and if so is it the US or EU pressing? I’ve heard very good things about the US copy RTI pressing I believe not so great about the EU, It’s a record I really want but don’t want the hassle of returning another sub par Optimal pressing.
It’s the Blue Note Classic, but I’m not sure where it comes from, and not at home to check. Bought in Aus. Sounds pretty good to me, but I am not playing it on a super-duper system, so perhaps not the best and most revealing test!

New purchase from CDJapan. This remastered SACD is stunning. Always exciting when a “desert island” recording is remastered with such care…
I have the same Steps vinyl release, it is as good as live can be, a party!
Same here !
Went to se a very enjoyable Nduduzo Makhathini concert, in Coreggio, Italy. I was not sure about this artist, but seeing him live won me over. Bought his latest CD after the concert, from the merch stall. Something I have never done before.
I am on a trip to discover South African musicians at the moment. I love the way they swing.
