You know me ,straight as …I wouldn’t have bothered but I enjoyed that perhaps because knowing the tunes inside out it gives me a greater understanding of what they are about.

When Ray Charles’ agent needed to organise a band for a West Coast concert these were apparently two first call players.
James Clay Cedar Walton,David Williams,Billy Higgins.

Thanks for the tip - hadn’t heard about this. Problem is: I listen to his music so much I am worried that watching the film will change the pictures in my head (eg of his trio playing at the Village Vanguard)

Henry Solomon, Solo Woodwind via Qobuz
This is an interesting album I came across for the first time listening to the radio today. The second track, Blue Horizon, sounds spookily like something by Duke Ellington / Johnny Hodges.

It does.
I was properly worried about that when I recently went to see the film, Koln 75, which is about the girl who organised Keith Jarrett’s appearance at the gig which produced the Koln Concert album.
But fortunately rather than making a complete hash of his poignant life and story at that time, it was brilliantly done and gave me more insight into the events of that time.
