John Mayall passes away

Great track off Keef Hartley’s ‘Halfbreed’

John Mayall calls Keef to tell him he is fired from the band.

Very nice tribute on X twitter by Eric, very moving and shows how upset he is.

Sorry to hear this. I saw John Mayall at a small outdoor venue ‘round about 1975. It was a weekend concert and you could camp there. Max Webster was also playing that weekend.
Ahh … the good ol’ days …

Going slightly sideways here - forgive me - but have just been binge watching Glasto on iPlayer. I so admire Emily Eavis for the breadth of her musical choices even if I don’t enjoy some of them.

But (getting to the point at last) I do remember commenting to my better half the fact that I have yet to see a blues band play Glasto.

Has blues music really become so obscure that it doesn’t even qualify for a fringe stage at Glastonbury?

If I am wrong here, I’m sure none of you will be backwards in coming forwards!!

Not trendy enough, like a number of other niche genres.

BBC Four, 9.50pm (today) - John Mayall : 40 Years of the Blues.

I have no idea of how up to date this is but hope it proves interesting.

Jeez, that’s about the worst thing I’ve heard in my life
