Johnnie Walker R.I.P

I made sure that I listened to his final show a few weeks ago

I seem to recall his ā€˜Kiss in the Car’ late night slot on Radio Caroline around 1963/64.

Used to listen through earphone on my first transistor radio, under the bedclothes.

Pretty racey, exiting stuff when you are 8 or 9!

A sad loss to broadcasting. Shocked to hear the news at the start of Bob Harris’s show yesterday. One of the first DJ’s I bonded with back in the 70’s. RIP.

He was a really nice guy, he stayed in accommodation at my local for a few months when he was house hunting after joining GWR radio.

Poured me many a beer when he was helping out behind the bar.

I never had the pleasure to meet him, but your not the first to say he was a nice guy, listening to him on the radio, he felt like a good mate, where a lot of the current presenters on the radio, don’t come across like that at all, as I said earlier, just glad the beeb handed his show over to Bob Harris.
