RiP Johnnie…he was a great influence on my music tastes. He was the best.
We listen to Bob Harris, good 70s music…but just not JW.
Got some Neil Diamond on right now …one of the many that JW got me into. I used to record his shows on my Fidelity open reel tape recorder…a long time ago.

While JW was never much of an influence on my teen ears (that was JP and MR), he was truly a gent and great DJ.

RIP Johnny. And thanks.

School lunchtime on Radio 1 JW would suddenly slip in a Led Zep track. RIP great man!

Sad news indeed but he had a varied and great career. There are, many (In the millions) who will remember him for a very long time. Many will have listened to him in their teen years and grew up with his tastes and broadcasts. Listening to his broadcasts was a comfortable place to be.

I had the privilege of meeting him several times over the past few years. A genuinely lovely bloke. RIP JW.

Not entirely unexpected but still a shock, Very sad. Mrs twofifty loved Walker’s Sounds of the Seventies. Walker had such a great delivery. Sadly missed. R.I.P.

Very sad news to end the year. Genuinely brilliant & interesting DJ who played a key role in expanding my musical horizons in my ‘formative’ years. R.I.P Johnnie and thank you.

Very sad news however if you listened to his last broadcast it was apparent that he was struggling. Thank you for the memories Johnny

It’s very sad news, but not unexpected, passed many happy hours listening to him over the years, just glad the BBC saw sense and handed the show over to Bob Harris.

A shame and a very likeable DJ who clearly loved music.

I guess we all knew this was coming, but still very sad indeed. Thanks to the wonderful JW and love and condolences to Tiggy too.

He possessed a perfect personality for the radio and was without question my favourite DJ. Such a cool dude who seemed to live for the music he played and artists he so very often interviewed. It was fantastic of BBC to facilitate Johnnie’s wish to continue on air for as long as he could possibly manage. Hope I’m not being over dramatic but that last show ending felt a bit like the switching off of his life support. Such a long career remembered by so many around the globe, hopefully all positive. RIP Johnnie Walker.
