Kris Kristofferson, the award-winning country singer and actor has died aged 88.
Yes, I was looking to see if anyone else had posted. Seen here in a photo my friend Jeff took of him:
Sigh. Another fixture I thought would be around forever (illogically) gone.
A great actor. Rather than a chameleon, I sort of felt his roles were so well played because he basically played 80% himself and fine tuned the other 20% rather than cook up a new character from scratch.
Agreed, I knew him more for acting than a singer/songwriter
Yes, I read this today. I guess 88 isn’t a bad age tho. I’ve always enjoyed his music and his acting.
But really tho, he was a folk singer, not really a country singer. Not that that matters, I suppose …
RIP Kris Kristofferson.
Great singer songwriter who made it to film as well. R.i.p
Lucky to have seen him play live in London. A legend.
Sad news. Only recently did I finally watch the film Heaven’s Gate. A much better film than its reputation might suggest, and KK was brilliant in it.
Should be Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door right about now. RIP
A prolific, educated and intelligent man. Cool dude. RIP.
Sad, saw the news late last night.
Funnily enough, I watched Convoy on the Beeb about a couple of weeks back (yes, all of it) plus the Star is Born remake with Lady GaGa was on the same channel only last week and I was trying to contextualise the KK/Streisand version to my daughter afterwards…
Obviously a man of many talents who he will be sadly missed by fans from both his films and ‘Outlaw Country’ music.
Rest peacefully “Rubber Duck”.

Good choice,

Similar thing from today’s Grauniad. His song ‘Sunday Mornin’ Comin’ Down’ is the reason for his name check in Nick Cave’s brilliant song ‘Frogs’
He was a remarkable person. University athletics, Rhodes Scholar, MA Merton College, Oxford, US military helicopter pilot and then he became a singer, songwriter and actor.
