Kudos and Naim

Someone here that have heard the Kudos Cardea c10 bookshelf? Thinking about pairing it with Uniti Nova maybe.

Kudos and Naim are a recognised great pairing but more to thee point are Kudos right for your room, and your taste.

Thank you.

Supernait 3 and Kudos X3 live here very happy and no plans to change. :+1:

I have X2 with Atom (now Nova) and Super 10 (same basic design as the C10 iirc) with Nova (now 222/250). I found the Nova was much more comfortable controlling both than the smaller Atom. The Atom was happier with the X2 than the S10 for sure. I have an “inappropriately large” space for the S10 but for me they are really great. I liked the Nova in the main system for all the years since it came out, just upgraded this spring. You should do well with Nova and C10 if that sound pleases you. Best wishes! Enjoy

As the C10 is discontinued it may be harder to hear them at home. I once listened to the C20 and found them rather bright and unnatural, and would be very cautious buying C10s without trying them at home, and with the Nova too. The Nova seems quite sensitive to speaker matching, much more so than something like the Supernait.

You’d get more advice if this was in Hifi Corner. Maybe @Richard.Dane would be so kind as to move it.

Yes, lovely tonal presentation.
Need to be placed away from rear wall.

Worth trying if price is right, also thinking their most recent range is no way affordable. A pity they ditched X2/X3, likely more profit to be made making Titans, a loudspeaker not many other brands better.

Disappointed to see that the Cardea and Super range of speakers have been discontinued, my Super 20A’s are awesome, wonder if Kudos will be bringing out new models.

Superb comment.

Not sure on that, I do know the reason for the s20 discontinuation was the unavailability of the cabinets. Of course if funding not an issue the 505 and 606s pair very well with the Nova.

The reason Kudos gave for discontinuing the X2/X3 was that they were no longer able to have the cabinets built at an acceptable price, and they couldn’t pass large price increases on to customers.

I suspect it’s also because Kudos are really committed to the higher end of the market, perhaps because better off people are less affected by current global financial turmoil, but also because of their real enthusiasm for active speakers.

Yes indeed much more like it.
Budget doesn’t seem to be a stumbling block so obviously an elevation of range was more favourable. :+1:

The models have been unchanged for a while now.

Be nice if they did an active box that could be retrofitted like PMC have done.

Yes an active box at 505/606 level would be good, I’d be very tempted!

I hadn’t realised that the S10 and S20 had been discontinued. The question that strikes me is whether a company making four expensive speakers, some good but cheap cable and a weird active but not active crossover can actually survive. We will see.

A nice idea, though the speakers would need to be completely reworked. PMC had active on the horizon when the twenty5 series was designed, which is why the metal backplate is so large. They also had years of experience making active pro speakers, so moving the tech into the domestic range wasn’t a huge challenge. Kudos have never made amplifiers nor indeed an active crossover.

Received today. Working nice with rega Io. Upgrade coming soon.

That’s true, but since Naim abruptly kicked the Kudos SNAXO into touch they have used other resources to good effect. That includes a couple of very experienced ex-Naim employees and the guys at Chord Electronics collaborating on their own crossover design.
Whether they will ever put these electronics inside the speaker cabinet remains to be seen; that may be a design compromise they don’t want to make at the price level of their kit.

Yes, I like active with one cable (plus power lead of course) instead of two or three runs of speaker cable.
