LG TV and EE FFTP

Hi hive mind if in wrong place please redirect me

After our 18 year old Panasonic TV died did research and purchased LG C5 range TV about 14 days ago

Great TV, connected it to outside world via WiFi to Plusnet smart router first time connection been stable until…

Yesterday Openreach installed new FFTP to our new EE router.

Muso, 2 iPhones, iPad Pro, iPad 5th gen, 2 Windows laptops connected first time and are stable.

LG to won’t connect to router via either 5GHz 2.4GHz or DFS

Unplugged TV CD 5 mins

Unplugged Router 5 mins

Will connect to my iPhone hotspot

Any suggestions please

There may be a good chance I suppose of a firmware update on the router, but I would repeat your test in the following order

Remove Power from TV
Remove Power from router
Wait 5 mins
Turn on Router
Wait 5 mins
Turn on TV

What WiFi protocols and security is your router access points using… check its compatible with your TV. You might need to enable legacy wifi and security modes possibly. Also make sure your not limiting frequency bands.. modern wifi protocols needs access to 2.4 5 and 6 GHz and will negotiate the optimum band for a client.

I have had problems with LG wifi implementations on some of thier TVs not connecting to Ubiquiti wifi acess points in the past. I use Ethernet for myvLG TVs now… we have three.

Hi @Simon-in-Suffolk
Thank you for your excellent as usual reply.

I had thought of firmware updates but was reluctant given the the TV is 14 days old and the router 3 days at the time I asked the question. (Yes, I am aware that these thing could have manufactured some time ago with older firmware).

Still getting round to implementing your suggestions but as a temporary, but in light of your experience, probably permanent fix I had a spare 10ft ethernet cable kicking about in the just in case box. Problem solved.

For future knowledgebase i will have a play with updates, security protocols etc when I have a spare day or 3 knowing what technology is like and report back.

Thanks again

and remember new firmware doesn’t always fix things and can introduce new issues
