it’s also a 9000 GBP amplifier.
And that’s important, why? Again this is not a Naim v other brands thread it’s for members to discuss the reasons why they have moved on from Naim mine was amp/speaker/room interaction.
Naim Audio make some damn fine and solidly built amps but they are not a cure all unfortunately, things would have been a whole lot simpler for me if they where.
in my opinion your digital source is a bit on the modest side.
The musical fidelity V DAC is a 175 GBP source.
Not sure about the turntable as I never heard it…
of course the cost doesn’t mean much as the Chord Mojo is 400 GBP but is quite superb.
Anyway everyone has to decide how they allocate money to their system and you clearly made your decision already.
What surprises me is that they have overcome the weight penalty and managed to accelerate faster. My 67 911S was 2200 pounds of weight. Today, they are pushing 3600 pounds, and most have 2x the hp/torque, but still out accelerate. That car was so nimble and responsive. When I came upon a slower car, the decision to honk the horn to let them know if I was going to pass them, or should I just skoot by as I would be past them before they could become a problem. Owned for a lovely 5 years. Stolen from the airport garage on a biz trip nearly 50 years ago. Currently have a new X3 30e Hybrid. This may be my favorite car. Faster than 911S in acceleration and 35/46 mpg/4500 pounds–hard to belive.
“ Gromit, it is the wrong trousers!!!
The £175 V DAC also has a matching V PSU that improves things a lot and is well respected combo.
I’ve had a Chord 2Qute and tried the newer Qutest both where decent little DACs but at the level I use Tidal, CD Rips and iRadio they where certainly no better than my current Musical Fidelity DAC.
For all that my main source has and will always be a record player I play 10 vinyl records to every one digital.
My two record players even though you have not heard them a modified Technics 1210 and a modified Rega are exceptional sources.
Hello, Porsche and Naim are not mutually exclusive!
I have one of the last 986 3.2S Boxsters with Bose sound system and Red leather seats. Best part is it only cost me the price of a new NDS2 in today’s money. A bargain considering the NDX2 cannot go from 0-60 in 5.7 seconds or top 150mph!
The flat 6 Engine also makes a nice sound!
The flat six sounds much better than than the Bose👍
Oh yes it can. Just take the NDX2 with you in the car.
Just don’t slam on the brakes
Amazing how many engine sounds are now artificially enhanced within the cabin, can’t beat the real thing.
Football stadiums around the world amplify the crowd sounds to create a better and sometimes more hostile environment.
But swapped ends at the slightest opportunity!
Maybe that’s why with the Boxter they often looked so similar at the front to the rear ?
True, just depends if it relies on the stadium acoustics to achieve this or a PA system, I know wherever possible I’ve been trying to watch football games without fake crowd noise being substituted in given the current restrictions.
Went to Valencia a couple of times last season and the crowd singing was so loud there was no need for amplification unlike the Emirates where you are constantly told to sit down and the atmosphere is sometimes non existent.
During the COVID restricted matches I quite like the fake crowd turned off so that you can hear the players and coaches shouting instructions.
One of those where you don’t want to ask, but yes, Valencia a proper club and stadium, I’m basking in ending 30 years of hurt, lets put it like that!
We will be playing one another tomorrow then.
Interesting analogy. I often compare my Naim equipment to a 911 in that there are more outrightly impressive cars out there, but once the 911 gets under your skin there is nothing quite like it. You can live on, sure, but you will always remember that the 911 gives you an experience that not many other cars can match. Naim feels the same way to me.
Only happened to me twice in 5 years. Once in the rain and once in the dry. Controlled both times and it was exciting.
