Lights on or Lights off?

In a moment of recent boredom/madness/experimentation I decided, after many years of darkness, to switch on the front panel LEDs on my 252. I kind of like it.

Not sure if it has any effect on SQ but I think I’ll live with them on for a few weeks.

How about you all? On or off? (I realise I’m only a hairs breadth away from a LP12 Lid on or Lid off debate🤣)

Always off anything else using power is a signature in the supply.
Also remember lights are burning and have a finite lifespan.
:+1:
Always Lid on that’s why it has hinges.
In lights off mode they come on when a function is activated.

I use a 282 with lights off

I was lights on and lid on.

DG…

Why are electronics produced with such ridiculously bright lights? I found 3 Naim green logos bright enough that I could easily see to walk around an otherwise pitch black room. The problem seems to have got even worse with modern LEDs. I always switch them off or dim them where possible.

Lights on, Lids off.
Why would Naim put lights on their products if you weren’t supposed to use them🤷🏻‍♂️
(…mind you, why put a disable feature on them🤔)

There should be a Christmas tree mode - flashing on/off :christmas_tree::grin:

Lights off, lids off, socks on.

Lights off, they are intrusive in the location I have the rack in my dimmed room lighting, and although minute it’s unnecessary power use..
I would like to dim the logo lights as well.

At least some of Naim’s newer white light models have a high/medium/low adjustment for the logo.

My electronics sig out of line of sight (deliberately, including some in cupboard). so makes no difference. IfRegardless, my preference is for a discreet power ‘on’ indicator on each box of electronics, and any other displays on only after activating/waking with illumination auto-off after an operationally suitable period of time, leaving just a discreet power indicator on.

sadly nc does not have a lights off option and the colour of the white logos is rather different on 222 vrs 350s which is very noticeable on low so they are set to medium

On my NC kit, I have them on at the low level.

Lights off, pants off

Off.

I’ve owned my 252 for around 20 years and never even realised the lights could be turned off.
I believe I’d think it was broken if it had no lights!

Lights off. Tried a period of lights on and couldn’t identify any change to the sound but all lights temporarily impact my vision so it’s always off for me. Same reason I don’t want a screen. I’ll use my iPad Pro when I need to thanks.

Never heard any difference with lights off - i like lights one, at night it gives me a pride of ownership feeling when i walk past the door to the room

This thread highlights a point I picked up on when auditioning the Selekt DSM.

Whilst most everyone seems to agree that switching off lights/displays during playback is for the best, the interior of the Linn is lit up with LED’s like a Christmas tree……. and no-one seems to notice……

Given the DSM’s deserved popularity, lights wouldn’t seem to matter at all.

The green lights were one of the things that first attracted me to the brand. So lights on. Lid off for me.

Errrr! Don’t think I can turn most of mine off anyhow.
