Limetree Bridge with ND555

Limetree Bridge arrived today.

After several months now of waiting for Firmware patch I have taken the plunge and bought a used Limetree Bridge 11. I have taken my EE8 out, which was fed by Farad Super 3. The Farad is now powering the Limetree.

I am using the PhoenixNet as switch. ND555 connected via Audioquest Vodka. Limetree connected via Audioquest Diamond. BJC router to switch. Limetree connected RCA to BNC digital input 4.

Initial impressions are Wow! The bass is now dark and deep. No high frequency sibliance. Its sounded very smooth and refined. Just how it should be.

Aye you going to try it through the Marantz Dan?

Just tried it and it works pretty good into Marantz! Using Toslink cable.

Great news Dan. It is a great little box that just does its job and does it rather well.

My more modest system that I love.

Sometimes simpler is better! It’s brilliant!

So with the Marantz as DAC it sounds excellent especially at reasonably high volume. At lower and higher volumes the Naim DAC ND555 sounds better. And so it should :joy:

I now see why so many have added Limetree to NDS and other DACs. Can’t fault it.

Seems you are running ‘Native’ (yellow light) @Dan_M . To try upsampling hold the toggle switch up for 3 seconds and the yellow light will go out. Sampling rate can be changed in the app settings (I prefer 192kHz).

Great to see @Dan_M . Keep us posted on your hearing experience over time.

This solution might keep people aboard the Naim ship if the patch doesn’t work good enough. I think I’ve read that some already jumped ship…

I never got along with upsampling on my Bridge II. Thought it made the sound bit artificial.

@Dan_M Also check the sw version in the Bridge II. They have made 2-3 updates last 6 months.

It says sw update: none.

Me neither. Also you should send it here to get it modified Blackbird. The improvement isn’t subtle at all. It’s much better.

Excellent result, Dan. Sounds like the streaming side is now restored. The Limetree looks like a remarkable device, I can see why NDS users own one!

What is it? I do not understand…

It’s a streamer

Why does it go through the ND555 then? To use its DAC?

Yes it doesn’t have a dac. It’s a pure streamer.

As there are firmware problems (you haven’t experienced it), I am now using Limetree as streamer into ND555 as DAC only.
