LINN 50th Anniversary LP12

Just better than an Aro! (IMHO & others)

Hats off to Peter as he did a great job there!

People may say that but take it from me, just changing the bearing would give you a very substantial if not shocking improvement. If you wish to upgrade, do it little by little maybe? As that way you will enjoy the full benefit of each upgrade
Of course set-up is key in all of this as poor set-up will destroy sound quality.

Peter

I’m always fiddlin  Keels, Arms, Superline load plugs, active crossovers etc. Having said that, I really can’t wait to have an LP12-50 here to road test it properly

It would be interesting to compare the LP12-50 with a Tangerine Stiletto, all other things being the same. If you plan to do that, I’d really like to come up and hear the comparison.

It was ClearAudio but very much to a Naim design , they supplied the engineering and Naim the design

This is my ClearAudio and it’s a super bit of engineering .

I don’t there was any intention to make the Solstice arm available as a stand alone

best wishes

Listening to the “Cult of Mac” podcast first thing this morning, and the news of the LINN LP12 redesign has even been discussed here, such is the publicity cachet and power of the Jony Ive name (they never discuss high end audio kit). If you wish to listen, IIRC, the LP12 spot is about 43 min in. Having never seen an original LP12 before, the host’s reaction is quite amusing.

It is an obvious comparison to make. Se/1 of course not Aros though Clive

Sometimes we have to compromise and settle for second best!

I’m going into hiding now…

I’d get the stylus guard on that cartridge pronto - but whatever you do, be very, very quiet as you do it!

So rounded corners, new hinges and a round start button double the price of this already (ridiculously) expensive player? In light of that, the Solstice is a real bargain IMO.

You can get a Solstice now for £10k….good value relatively… :person_shrugging:

If I were to invest and would choose, Solstice every day of the week.

If the box count does not concern you.

I think that iKrap or iKrud would be more fitting.
