quick question is it possible to fit the Linn LP12 Hercules board to the axis maybe not now but in the near future. can anyone clarify how it is done. does it make a sound improvement? I know I have to stop buying

I had a Linn Axis and it’s a very good turntable.

If you get the Hercules for Linn Axis, available as @Skeptikal says, ask your local Linn dealer if they can fit it.

Or you may be confident yourself to fit.

Good luck!

How do you think they compare

Having had the Linn Axis and also a TD160 they are on a similar level.

The LP12 is much better but more expensive for an older used example.

The TD160 was my Dad’s and I have passed it to my son, so has sentimental value.

If you have a Linn Axis and TD160 personally I would sell them both and get an LP12 or a RP8.

An LP12 will provide plenty of room for upgrades at cost. Being modular parts are easy to change and improve upon over time.

I need to get my old late-80s Axis with Akito out of the loft and get it refurbished ! Still got its K9 cartridge on it.

You may want to go to the HiFi Kabin Linn forum to get some more information. The Axis motor is supported and soldered to the Axis power supply board so I doubt very much that it’s a simple swap with a Hercules. The Stamford Audio approach is quite novel!

The Axis is a surprisingly good turntable and closer to a basic LP12 than most would like to admit. I run one with an LVX and K9 into a Nait 50 and SBLs. It really does groove😎
