Thinking of making a few changes , I’m leaning towards a Linn Selekt DSM with Katalyst DAC into NAP250, I thought that the Selekt sounded sweeter to my ears than the 222 and I may upgrade later to Organik further down the road, of course I will keep my LP12. interested if anyone here has the Selekt and NAP250?
Not sure this helps - when considering a move from my NC 200 Series, my dealer was quick to suggest the Selekt DSM Edition with Organik DAC’s to get a competitive sound……. Which might not be that much of a surprise
.
Nevertheless, and using Linn’s power amp modules, I just couldn’t escape the lure of the Naim sound. In fact, listening to a Nova PE as a quick and dirty Class D comparison, I actually preferred the Nova.
Now lots of people here are very satisfied with the Selekt pre into Naim power with both NC250 and NC350 power amps, so definitely worth a listen.
YMMV,

@Richard.Dane - sorry did I do something wrong ? please let me know what I did and I’ll ensure I don’t repeat it
Many thanks
I tried the Linn Selekt and katalyst with my 250dr and loved it. Also tried the select with organik DAC that is superb offering 95% of performance of the Klimax/Organik/250DR I now own.
Organik update is well worthwhile.
I moved your thread from the Music Room to the Hifi Corner, which was more appropriate for the topic.
I’m running a Linn Selekt Organik into Nap350s. It’s the best combination of both worlds, Linn source and Naim amplification.
It’s easy to use with the 6 configuration pins on the top, simple fuss free wiring and great sounding inbuilt phono stage. I really couldn’t be happier with it, also I like to idea of being able to upgrade in a modular fashion without swapping or adding boxes and cables all over the place.
And finally you can use your old favourite Naim remote controls to control it.
It’s very subjective. I have a Selekt DSM and am delighted with it. I use it with active speakers rather than a power amp, but it does have a different sonic signature to Naim, which may not suit all listening tastes. I jumped ship from a 272 when no successor seemed to be forthcoming, first to Auralic, then Linn. Had the 333/332 been around at the time perhaps I’d be there.
One thing: it’s the Organik DAC that really does it for me. If there’s any way you can stretch to it, say by going with Classic case, rather than Edition, I would strongly recommend it.

I have the Classic Linn Klimax DS3 with Organik DAC, purchased used last year for £5k. It feeds a N50 and I couldn’t be happier, it’s an amazing source.. way better than a 222.
Good morning, I own a Selekt DSM Classic. Has anyone tried it with a preamp and not directly with the power amps? Any differences when listening? Thanks.
See if you can find an ex-demo unit.
I bought this in October- with dual Organik mono DACs - I got it for £11,200
I do have a 332 and 300 power supply but since trying the 350s directly into the Selekt around 4 months ago I haven’t switched back yet. There was a slight difference in presentation but not a downgrade in quality. I do want to connect everything back up in the next few weeks over Christmas and take another listen but having the convenience of having one remote control is so handy for everyone else in the family.
I have tried connecting via unity gain on the 332 so I only need one remote but the 332 keeps tuning off after 20mins due to lack of volume. ( I guess the 332 has been designed to monitor the input level and not the output level so the unity gain won’t work unless the pre amp is on all the time with standby deactivated. )
Going back to the question the preamp in the Linn is incredibly good and so is the built in phonostage. It’s well worth a listen.

i’m in the minority here. currently have 222/350s and have problem with clarity of complex classical pieces.
demoed 333 into 222 vrs linn with single organic dac. the 333 solved that problem while the linn was similar to 222 but for me lacked the immersive quality of the naim.
Likewise. I wanted to like the Selekt Dual Organik as a neat solution and gave it a couple of weeks home trial. Even through the 332:300 (which it really needed ime) I couldn’t wake it up.

What I would say is this: pre-amps (including streaming pre-amps) are designed with the manufacturer’s partnering power amps and interconnects. This is NOT to say that mixing manufacturers won’t work, just that if the results are not ideal this should come as no great suprise. Best to check with a good long listen, would not want your enjoyment impeded. (See what I did there)
Lumin, Auralic, Grimm, Wadax, Antipodes…and many other streamers brands don’t do power amps. So they are associated with other brands.
You are really anchored very deeply with that idea that Naim has to go with Naim, Rega with Rega….
I recently heard the Naim NSC 333/300 into Gryphon 333. It was at another level of 332/300/350.
If you accurately read my post, you should conclude that I do not think that mixing brands is excluded, what I say is that if you want to GUARANTEE a match, then keeping within one brand for pre and power amps is one way of doing this.
@Richard.Dane Oh , Sorry , a senior moment, I thought I was in HiFi Corner, ooops , Thanks for your help ![]()
Another way is just to try. If it works, it works. Sometimes not ideally, sometimes even better.
That is what I said.
