Lite explained

I am intrigued by the term lite. Does it imply inferior or simplified or streamlined?

I can’t detect any hint of an explanation on the Naim website for the Uniti Star Lite, except for the word evolution.

I should I suppose hasten to a dealer to hear for myself, but from the comfort of my armchair can anyone enlighten me?

Lite in the context of the Star means a reduced functionality (ie no CD drive). However, I’m sure Naim would argue that it’s been improved in other areas.

Thanks for pointing that out - I missed the missing slot.

So - it might be like ‘light’ in the English language?

For some this might refer to reduced functionality, or even redundancy. But I understand the reference to evolution.

AI suggests lite is a marketing term related to fewer ingredients or a simplified, stripped down version. But Adam is correct that an anglophone should properly refer to ‘light’ in these contexts.

If the Star was a dessert , there could bé a light version. Light refers already to sugar free or fat reduced.
