Looking for your favorite live music venues in London. We have free nights from September 28 through October 1 and again October 7.
I will check the schedule for the LSO and larger venues, but if my Chicago experience translates, there is a wealth of good music in smaller venues. Thanks, man.
If you like chamber music and/or recitals check out Wigmore Hall.
If you like Jazz, there’s Ronnie Scott’s and 100 Club.
The Royal Albert Hall is a very nice location with many variable acts.
DG…
Islington Assembly Rooms. Small is beautiful!
Check out the “Pizza Express Live” venues.
Been over to London for a few gigs with friends.
Small venues, cheaper tickets, so worth an experiment if dates are fixed.
Union Chapel is a lovely venue
The list is practically endless. Two less obvious suggestions:
The 100 club is small and dingy and a throwback to the 80s.
Similarly Omeara which is south of the river is a small under the arches venue reminiscent of a decayed victorian theatre.
You’d have to check the listings, but the Troubadour on Old Brompton Road is a slice of music history. Check the icons wall. They’ve all played there.
The basement music venue is basic, but there’s a popular restaurant on the ground floor.
Great free blues sessions on Sunday afternoons at Ain’t Nothin’ But The Blues, Kingly St, nr Carnaby St:
Wow! Looks so cool.
The original Pizza Express basement in Dean St. is worth checking out for good jazz. That place has been hosting good jazz since at least the 70s.
Cadogan Hall is also a very nice venue for classical and other genres.
For the indi scene The Windmill in Brixton or The Lexington Islington way.
