Looking for a compact cd/dvd player with usb out

There are lots of dvd players but most are cheap shell enclosures. I’m looking for something more substantial. However must be compact with usb audio out. Does one exist?

Fiio DM13?

Doesn’t have usb out, sadly. The shanling cr60 is nice, but no usb audio (ripping yes).

Apologies, I read two “news” items that referred to USB audio rather than the Fiio spec sheet which is much clearer.

No problem. Strange there literally 100s of cheap dvd drives but nothing which is compact and more hifi style.

Can the Melco D100 help?

Err… Not at that price! Thanks.

Schiit Audio Urd

16 ins wide isn’t what I’d call compact! Thanks anyway

What are you trying to achieve? As a dvd player to watch films don’t usually have a usb socket (I’ve never seen one) and the same for a cd player for audio.
However computer based dvd rom / cd rom drives obviously are usb for external (or sata cables for internal, but I doubt these exist anymore).
A cd player that also provided audio out via usb sounds like a very niche product.

I use Lyrion Music Server which has a cd-player plugin. This works with built-in cdrom drives (laptop) and with separate USB connected cdrom drives (often used for ripping, etc). The physical format & build quality of these is often poor.
I’m looking for something more substantial & designed.
I think it’s a lost cause :yum:

Asus turbodrive?
Or there’s probably something made by apple.

Thanks

Something of interest or other by Asus. ASUS ZenDrive U7M - ultra-slim portable 8X DVD burner includes two free M-DISC 4.7GB DVDs for lifetime photo, video, data backup, and compatible for Windows and Mac OS

Similar to a Hitachi I already use, but thanks.

Oh OK and your welcome.

Are you sure about that? I understand that the CR60 has separate usb outputs for ripping and to act as a CD transport into a USB DAC. I think it’s the USB A socket that does this. See the picture below:

Shanling told me that the usb out wouldn’t work with Windows media player. Not sure if they understood my use case.

Interesting - I was just looking at a USB CD transport to go into a Topping D10s for the office and wondered if this would do the job - possibly not!
