Lookup CD metadata by ID

I have a few “unknown” ripped CDs shown in Roon i.e. as “Unknown Album c60afe0e”.

Is there a way to get metadata by this ID form them?

@sicher You could try downloading a copy of SongKong and pointing that at them. It checks MusicBrainz, Discogs, Acousticid and AcousticBrainz and will add the metadata and art work for you. Works best on flac files. The other option is to add it yourself with mp3tag or similar programme.

Musicbrainz Picard will try and match your rip, then can also list of all the CD’s that have the same title, but multiple ID’s from the various releases. It’s free, very powerful, but a bit fiddly. It’s my last resort MP3 tagger when my usual mp3tag program doesn’t cut the mustard. Start by using the help guide below

Thanks a lot for your replies! I tried both.

SongKong on macOS just quits when I open it. Musicbrainz Picard works but does not find the right album. Anyway it was worth a try.

Just in case you didn’t see the option, when it has it first guesses at an album, right click the album and select “other versions” then check the codes on your CD sleeve to match, e.g.

@sicher Is c60afe0e Paul Haines ‎– Darn It! 2cd set ?

It’s some instrumental, South American sounding, album with 14 tracks.

Thanks a lot!

I asked as I’d just ripped that with Exact Audio Copy and got the same number c60afe0e as EAC verification number ‘item not found’, what did you use to rip your cd?

It has been ripped with a HDX:

On MuscBrainz Picard, did you try both Lookup and Scan. Lookup is checking the database, and Scan is a bit like Shazam whereby it listens to the track itself?

Can you rip it on you Mac rather than the HDX?

Unfortunately I don’t have the CD anymore.

Yes, tried both. Scan doesn’t find any results.

Actually did you try Shazam?

or play it to SoundHound on android or ios, see if it finds it?

Thanks, I’ll try.
