I’ve been going for years and it’s always great fun. Several artists will pull out a musical instrument at the end of the conversations which adds to the fun as do the unlikely bedfellows. I probably have the only photo of Lawrence from Felt and Don Powell from Slade in existence.
It’s great every year. Lovely atmosphere. Blackwell and others bring all the music related books and in the run up there are always excellent late additions. Those conversations where the musicians play a four song set are often magical.
Chris Difford a few feet away with an acoustic playing Squeeze songs.
Pete Wylie effectively and hilariously interviewing himself before playing a Danelectro imitation with a hilariously bad drum machine built in.
Meeting Pauline Penetration in person.
Kid Congo Powers being far more interesting than much bigger stars.
Mike Batt playing Remember You’re A Womble.
Don Powell enjoying the festival so much he came for his chat and stayed for the weekend.
Having coffee and a long chat with Karl Barton from Kraftwerk.
Eliza Carthy proving to be incredibly shy but then an entirely different person with a fiddle in her hand.
