LP12 with Basic Plus Arm

Hi all,

I’m putting together LP12 number two for upstairs out of bits I’ve replaced. I managed to find my old Basic Plus arm out in the garage. It’s been in a box for close on 10 years. It’s in remarkably good condition, the old K18 cartridge is in pace but I guess I would replace that. I’m not sure I could get a stylus for it in any case.

Does anyone on the forum use an LP12 with a basic plus, if so what Cartridge are you using. I would be looking for a reasonable moving magnet. I’ll probably not spend too much as at some stage i will transfer the Nima from my number one deck when that get’s upgraded..

An Audio Technica VM95 stylus will fit a K9 body but not the K18. However, IIRC just a small modification is needed to make one fit.

However, it might be just as easier to get a new cartridge.

If you can see the cartridge ultimately going on a Roksan Nima, then a Goldring 1042 or Dynavector 10x5 might suit your Basik Plus in the short term. Might also stop you from having to buy twice, if that’s important.
