Mac/UPnP refresh please! Thanks

I have bought a lovely 2nd hand UnitiQute 2 as a present for a lady who has no music system at home and very much loves my Naims.

She’ll be playing music from Internet Radio, Spotify perhaps and surely a lot from the MacBook I am currently filling for her.

I can’t remember whether a Mac needs a third party app to be UPnP visible or not. She’ll use an iPad to control the Q2.

You’ll need to install something like Asset. (From the dbpoweramp people).

Also jriver media center has a Mac version which you can then use “jremote” for iPad/iPhone to stream to the uq2. (Instead of using the Naim app).

N-Serve was for Naim servers. You were no doubt thinking of N-Stream, which morphed into the Naim app some years ago. That is what controls the Unitiqute, and all Naim streamers.

Also, the recently released 4.9 firmware update will be required for internet radio, so you should make sure this is done before trying to use it.

Ideally you would run a UPnP server such as Asset or Minimserver on the Mac, or on another device on the home network, to play locally stored music files.

Yes I meant N-Stream of course. It’s been a few years since I used network devices. The Q2 will be fully serviced and updated at the official lab before being used, including a new display and 4.9 firmware.
