My advice buy a Mana rack and you will see for yourself.

I do recall there was some controversy over them in the past. It’s often the case I find with products that seek to do things differently.Some will love them, others will reject them without even bothering to listen. Much like Linn and Naim gear in fact!

That’s exactly the same experience I had with my Mana stands under DBL’s.
Initially, I was using my DBL’s as Naim intended. They were on Naim chips on an oak engineered floor on top of a screed and concrete base. The sound was pretty good but putting them on Mana SB’s and they became so much more cohesive and layered.
The friend with the big Mana set-up did exactly the same thing with his DBL’s, only this time he got them to bring a total of three pairs to listen to. Each time a layer was added it seemed to heighten the cohesiveness and layering. He bought them all and still has them today!

I get that. In what way is a welded steel rack not ultra rigid - that’s what I don’t get. Do you mean it is prone to flexing in some way, ie. that the steel components will bend in some way? They look from the pictures to be substantial thick angled steel so I can’t see how they could flex. But you have first hand experience and I don’t which is why I kindly ask you to elaborate and explain if you would be so kind. Thanks.

I think you should talk to someone that like Mana,I´m so over them.
For me Mana act as a bass filter,removing some of the music…
When the DBL spikes were coupled with cross-head screws, the DBL was rock solid. However when placed on the Mana SB3’s it was obvious that the speaker/stand combination had a natural resonance around 3-5Hz…well below the audio range, and possibly the reason why they worked as well as they did.
I’ve seen pictures of these. I can envisage how something like that would not be ultra rigid with an extremely large and heavy speaker placed on it and indeed that’s part of the reason they work so well. But when talking about a 3 shelf rack I struggle to envisage that as being in any way bendy. But perhaps it is? I don’t have any first hand experience.
Hi Pete, if you put a Mana rack on Soundstages (the little Mana platforms) then when you get past two layers the rack will move a little when you give it a shove.
Your proposed solution (just the rack spiked to the floor) will be rock solid.
if you like the look of it, then get it. Your money, your taste. It won’t make your system and it won’t break your system. Having said that, I never have and never will have the equipment between the speakers. Always out of sight out of mind for me, Besides, if you put anything between the speakers it will, IMO, have a negative impact. Get someone to stand between the speakers or put a chair there and you’ll hear the impact.

They mean decoupled like all the fraim bits but individually rigid but in stacks decoupled.
Rigid frames with minimal coupling points.
Like my speaker stand spikes into Pozi drive screw heads.
Point coupling.
You’re 3 shelf rack won’t be bendy or flexible as it’s all one frame.

You really shouldn’t take a rejection of an opinion offered as meaning that it wasn’t useful. I value all the opinions and experiences here and I’m grateful for them. Sorry if you feel that your opinions were not taken on board and therefore were not useful. I can assure you that no matter how it might look your opinions were useful to me and I’m glad you took the time and effort to bother with them. Everything written here adds context and enrichment. None of it is wasted.
Not so from where I’m standing.
Taking everything into account I’m starting to wonder if my plan B of a used Target rack might not be a safer bet. I love the look of the Mana, which was the primary reason for my interest, and the Target racks if anything look even nicer to me. Problem is if I blow £800 on a Mana and it does something I don’t like to the sound then it’s £800 down the drain. Some of the things that have been said here have made me a little more wary. It’s a controversial rack for sure and the Target was much more universally accepted as a very good no nonsense rack. If I was in a position to risk £800 then I would definitely try the Mana but it’s money that I really can’t afford to risk going to waste.

It’s much more sensible to get a Target or Soundorganisation or Norstone Bergen 2 modular rack and put the money into better electronics,in the future.

I seen your interest in something “ NEW “ but I’m not a fan of glass shelves I’ve tried before with a Blok rack cable dressing nightmare.
And I’ve tried Fraim glass on cups and balls and it just drove my OCD overboard.
I got my target as you know and I got new shelves cut for it from a custom cutting company I have the email address.
It might be worth contacting a seller on the bay and organising shipping it’s going to be much cheaper and exactly what you want.

And get from it that you would prefer your system to be more punchy and upfront than it is… Anyway, I hope that whatever rack you get satisfies you and that you will stop thinking about your system, which I got the impression was your desire when you committed to your complete change of system.

I’m like it with everything I buy. I’m really pleased then I go through a phase of wondering if I could have done better. Nothing to do with not being satisfied with what I’ve got. More some sort of OCD which forces me to re evaluate after the event. I bought some new shirts the other week which I was really pleased with and then spent ages looking to see if there was anything better I could have got. Drives my wife nuts!

Thanks @Skeptikal . I’ve also never been a fan of glass shelves and getting the spikes just right so that the glass doesn’t rock I can see being a continual source of OCD for me. So Target it is!
