Massive innuos sense update on mini mk3

bought a used zenmini mk3 at a good price to try sense 3 (can move it on if not liked) and it was on sense 2.0.4! … 31 updates behind and i did not realise that all had to be installed sequentially to get to 3.1.1… its gonna be a long afternoon…

Bummer!:flushed:

On half decent broadband I’ve never had an update take more than 5 minutes tops. I’d be genuinely surprised if you ended up having a long afternoon. It should be pretty straightforward even with those numbers. Check the Innuos site too. A few can be bypassed.

2 of them say about an hr in the change logs… im on full fibre so speed is not an issue. when is asked for system update it said 3.3.1 is available so hit the button, it then started installing 2.0.5…

It should work its way through all the updates until 3.3.1, is it not 3.1.1 ?

An hour was noted after some users had that. The majority didn’t and couldn’t understand where that came from. In reality, I’ve quite literally had nothing over 5 minutes in 2 years now. Also on full fibre.

It will absolutely be worth it but I guarantee there’s a new update to be done as soon as you complete the last one

its now 93% done after nearly 2 hrs with target update being 3.1.1 so probably done soon i hope.

Edit -just finished on 3.1.1 - 2 hrs so not awful… ill give it a spin after work…

will you give us a comparison between the Zenith Mk2 and Zen mini mk3 later?

The zen mini mk3 with serial number beginning 20 can accept a bios update. There are details on the Innuos forum. Possibly worth checking?

for sure! especially as i have a innuos lpsu too… so this weekend i will compare both running Roon then switch the mini to sense 3 and compare again.

yes its on the cards to do as just confirmed with innuos the procedure - seems it doesn’t change the sound but more of a housekeeping and power management thing.

I must find out from Innuos if my Zen mk3 needs the bios update as it is a 2020 model. So let us know if the bios update goes ok.

It turned out that only the mini gets the bios update, not Zen or Zenith

Ok had a listen to both and compared like with like, with both as Roon endpoint. The mini mk3/Lpsu with the newer streaming board gives very little away to the older zenith. It’s a bit more forward , maybe like moving further towards the front of a venue. More detail against the zeniths more relaxed and slightly more meaty dense sound. The mini is lighter and fleeter.
Turning the mini to run sense 3 and comparing to the older general on Roon, the gap opens in favour of the mini , I was surprised how much better sense is!
There seems to be an issue with sense internet radio at the moment so gone back to Roon for when I’m working at home…
Upshot is the zenith is still an amazing streamer and quieter then the hdd mini but is now up for sale……
Then maybe a pulse in the future as music on an intel NUC 11th gen
