Hello,
I’m looking for a MC/LO cartridge that would work well with this arm
Many thanks,
That arm which I think is an R200 used to be listed as medium mass/compliance so most lo mc carts around the 400 ish pound mark should work well. AT and Hana would be where I’d look first. Ask the dealer about compliance matching with your S arm.

What about the next one up?
Audio Technica AT-OC9XML
…erm, remembering from a long time ago, would not be confident that RB200 bearings would long survive the mechanical energy delivered to them by a low compliance MC.
The OP asked for an mc, but with the R200 changing the headshell to a magnesium cast type and running a vm95 sh would likely give a similar sound and not overload the r200 capabilities.
I suggest a Hana EL is worth listening to.
I don’t reckon the arm is really up to an MC past very basic level.
Agreed.
It’s a great budget arm on a great budget deck, but I doubt putting any MC on it is the right way of spending cash, unless perhaps the OP has a phono stage that is low output MC only.
@NickofWimbledon good morning
I will be be getting a phono stage MC low output,
Just need a cheapish cart till I get a better TT
Thank you for everyone’s input
The AT OC9 has been mentioned. Others will know better than me, buy I seem to remember that it works best attached to something a bit heavier. Hana and Sumiko might be options, and so might the old Denon DL103.
One other option is to chat to a couple of trustworthy dealers. You might well find one with an ex-dem cartridge with 100 hours or less on it going for a song.
If it really is temporary and low budget I was going to suggest an AT F2, but AT don’t list them any more, but Sound Hifi still advertise at £169.
At f7 nude would be better if you can find one. I think the Audio Technica AT-OC9XEN has replaced it though, at a higher cost.
How for up the rega ladder to I need to go to put a trokia cart on a tone arm
Looking at Changing out my TT now rather than later
Thanks for your patience
Don’t think that’s possible the Troika is a three point mount and not the same as rega.
Arms for Troika would be from Ittok or Aro upwards.
Wow this turntable business is a night mare, with what goes with what
So many choices,
I’ll ask another question then,
For a mid range cart which rega is a good one to buy s/h in your opinion,
And I appreciate your responses
@GrumpyOLDvinylJUNKY
Seriously if I was looking for a cart now and didn’t mind MM then the AT VM series offered great VFM and no costly setups when the stylus wears out.
I will in the not to decent future have use of a high spec MC phono stage,
Looking at ideas to complement it,
Minimum spend, and I don’t really want a LP12 to big of a rabbit hole,
Buying a high spec MC stage without the front end to feed it is a bigger rabbit hole and likely to get far more disappointing
Initial source first.

Spend wiseley.
