Mike Pinder of the Moody Blues has passed away. He was one of the first to master the Mellotron keyboard and many of their seemingly orchestral sounding tracks was just Mike on his Mellotron…….r.i.p Mike.
So, just the Blue Jays left from the classic lineup.
Saw Justin earlier this month in Truro and he still sounds 95% like the Moodies.
I gather Mike became disenchanted with the other band members when they wanted to simplify their sound as they couldn’t reproduce their then studio sound live & that meant reducing Pinders role in the overall sound which, unsurprisingly, he wasn’t pleased about.
RIP Mike and farewell to yet another part of my youth.
Great that Justin and John are still out on the road👍
A pic from their fan club on facebook……Mike Pinder on far left.
When it comes to Knights in White Satin the only one laughing is Lonnie Donegan.
A great loss this week Mike Pinder of the Moody Blues, made in Birmingham, probably the best player of the Mellotron, also the Home of the Mellotron
threads merged.
Thankyou
Imho, here he did the best with his mellotron.
The seven albums from Days of Future Passed were undoubtedly the best of their output & On the Threshold of a Dream would probably be the one I would take to my desert island.
