I’m a little disappointed in the Mu-so gen 2 as a sound bar where spoken words are concerned. Slightly muddled and perhaps too much bass to make everything crystal clear. Any suggestions very appreciated. THX
Stuck some little feet under mine.
Assume with some success? Care to share which little feet as I have the same issue? Thanks, George
Is the Muso near the edge of the table/counter or further back?
I find that Muso range stuff shoved back with several inches of flat surface in front makes them sound pretty rubbish. But pulled forward so that they fire into open space without a reflective surface close to the speaker makes them sound great.
I think anything would work, it was just to lift the slab base off the cabinet surface. I just put some little stick on sorbothane cheapies underneath. Yes, it worked for me.
Thanks!
This problem always rears its head, time after time. To simplify and cut a long story short, with av stuff, any speaker that isn’t designed for av will always sound sub-optimal and muffled voices are one of the stand out issues. I’ve tried loads of things over the years and nothing beats a proper multi-channel av soundbar or surround sound setup. Even my super Naim system sounded awful via tv/4k player.
I have my av going through a Sennheiser Ambeo Max soundbar and it’s not just me who comments on its clarity, amongst other things. They updated the firmware a couple of months ago and I can now change individual drivers. The centre driver carries 90+% of the main voice and playing with this driver makes a huge difference to what was already a great soundbar.
Just saying, no amount of playing with feet, position or whatever, will miraculously change the sound of something that’s a compromise.
You’re wrong. It does.
It’s not tip top. But it does change and improve.
Though, frankly, I don’t find mine to be muffled…
I used a Muso 2 as a soundbar for my TV some years ago. I tried several tweaks but was never satisfied with the sound quality so I gave up and sold it. I now use a pair of KEF LSX II which provide reasonable sound from the TV, although I’m sure there are other superior options around the same price.
For me, my Muso 2 sounds great as a soundbar, with natural voicing rather than the overly crisp sound of many AV setups. The dialogue isn’t muffled at all and a nice amount of bass for movies. Does the TV source matter? Mines a Sony Bravia. Usual loudness/placement settings tweaks help
I could use the Muso as a sound bar but positioning relative to the TV makes this difficult. I use optical out from the Panasonic box then RCA to DIN on an input to the NAC 552DR. Very happy with this.
