I have two Mu-so QB2’s and noticed that streaming on either airplay or chromecast the multi room function is not available. Is this normal? As always, your input is greatly appreciated.
I’ve run into my share of issues with Naim’s implementation of ChromeCast, so I don’t know how it will work in practice, and I don’t want to spend any more time troubleshooting. However, if you want to try, go into Google Home, choose settings, select speaker groups, and choose the speakers you want to synchronize.
Thanks for your input. I’ve subsequently realized airplay will give access to both units. No need to screw around with Chromecast. I struggle with the Naim app, surprises me that such a quality company would put out a garbage app.
Of course, ChromeCast offers higher resolution than AirPlay, but I’m not sure how much difference one would hear with a QB2.
As you have found: yes, that’s normal, as in “as designed”.
Both ChromeCast and Airplay (1/2) offer casting to multiple targets natively in those protocols, including synchronization features.
So Naim hasn’t implemented their own multi-room features on these inputs and rely on the “source protocol” and their implementation of the user interface in the clients.
Yes, but to be honest I don’t think the QB2’s sound all that great to begin with. They do fill the room with sound. The difference in sound quality is negligible between chrome cast and air play. Thanks for your input I appreciate you.
Thanks, appreciate your expertise.
