An update- Further testing today, showed the issue is happening even in a standard network configuration. A quick check on the Roon forum found that there is an issue with the latest Linn software update which is causing the KDSM to randomly disappear from Roon’s list of available devices when put into standby. It re-appears after a reboot. I thought it was a bit strange, as whilst Roon couldn’t see the KDSM, I still had network connectivity to it via the Linn app…
Awaiting an update, so I’ll reserve judgement on the SmoothLAN until then.
@Camphuw - Good luck, I’ll be interested in what you find. I’d start with it plugged into the NDS first, but worth trying at the Cisco end of the NDS Ethernet connection too.
I had an exchange of emails with Josh who said much the same, whilst stressing it was designed to work feeding into the streamer, where it is at the moment. I was happy with the perceived benefits when plugged into the tv, so I suspect I’ll order another.
What is also recommended to reduce noise in a network setup is to use a switch - it’s placed between the ISP router and your network devices. So every single device connected will benefit.
I understand as I have a 48 port Cisco switch managing my LAN. However, in reality it handles: two computers, two NAS, three WiFi access points, and Tv, plus hifi. The latter consists of the NDS, 4 Unitiqutes and Raspberry Pi and server. I imagine if I isolated cables handling the hifi I might be able to add another switch.
However, I’m not inclined to spend a day on my knees identifying the relevant cables. Could there be an easier way?
Well one time you have to bite the bullet - but then you can label each cabel with a sticking note etc. so for future changes you immediately know what to do.
