My first post...greetings!

G’day everyone. Greetings from LE67 in good old Blighty.

At the “tender” age of 64y 8m I’ve finally hitched a ride on the Naim “bandwagon”. Having taken early retirement (I’ve been working in Law Enforcement since 1996 - think DCI Gene Hunt from “Life On Mars”…..lol) I’ve invested some of my lump-sum in my man cave/home studio (room is part recreation and part studio for my radio shows).

Of relevance to this platform, I have purchased some pre-loved kit that will hopefully see me through my sunset years. After lots of deliberation (me) and input from SWMBO, I’ve acquired a Uniti Nova, a Naim CD5si and a pair of ATC SCM7s (plus some pre-filled Atacama stands). I already owned a Technics SL1500C T/T (with Ortofon Concorde Music Blue - soon to be upgraded to 2M Bronze cartridge).

They’re all set up temporarily pending some building work that’s booked in for early November. I can’t wait to get things properly set up.

I’ve long been a Naim admirer and it’s great finally own some great kit! I have to say, the Nova was incredibly easy to set up. I’ve tested it with a multiple of sources and they all sound great.

I’m not prolific when it comes to posting - I’m always happy to be on the outside looking in (classic “Grey Man”, that’s me!).

Over and out.

A very warm welcome here. I hope you will enjoy your Nova and CD5si, but I think that will not be a probem

Naim and ATC are a great match; you have a cracking system there.
I hope the building work progresses smoothly.

Welcome FYY.

Play CDs and records by all means but don’t forget the Nova is a brilliant all-in-one streamer, I know, I owned one.. Sign up to the likes of Qobuz or Tidal and the world’s music is at your fingertips for a few pounds a month.

I use Tidal (full fat version) and will use Airplay for listening to Mixcloud uploads (podcasts). I’ll use my Mac as a server (Serviio) to play Hi-Res downloads from Bandcamp/Juno. I’ve also installed quite a bit of stuff onto a LaCie 1TB SSD that I connect to the rear USB. I am contemplating switching from Tidal to Qobuz, but I’m in no rush.

There are a couple of threads on here comparing the SQ of Tidal vs Qobuz. I think it fair to say most preferred Qobuz by a small margin. I know I did and am a Qobuz (now connect) user.

Have a search on here, there is a lot of good info but also some conflicting opinions.

That’s t’internet for you!

You can take a 1 month free trial of Qobuz and compare the two.

Good luck and happy listening this will be my last posting as I am at a stage that music is all that matters at the ripe old age of 66, although I have just ordered the new unreleased as yet Bowie acoustic set and just for fun the yet to be released Adam & The Ants Best Of

Enjoy the topics and try not to doubt your judgement on your kit etc too much
