My Mu-So speaker will not switch on having not used it for about 5 weeks

I have not used my speaker for about 6 weeks and it has been plugged in all the time , I came to use it yesterday and it’s totally dead I have unplugged it for 30 min pressed the rest button and nothing

Repair is possible, contact your Naim dealer.

Step one - if you’re getting absolutely no signs of life - check it’s securely plugged in and there are no blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers…

I’d check the fuse.
Have you been away?
Where I live in the UK, we’ve had thunderstorms in the past 6 weeks, so it’s possible, if you might have had a storm, that it’s been affected by lightning.

I assume you mean a Muso? If so I suggest amend thread title to say, or if you can’t then request @Richard.Dane to do for you, as that mould be more likely to catch the eye of members knowing the unit and its foibles or issues.

Unplug it from the wall for 24 hours then try again

If the unit is totally dead, I would focus on simple things first.

  • The connectors for the power input in the back are quite recessed on the Muso. Have you pushed that in fully until it stops?
  • Have you tried a different figure of 8 mains lead in case the fuse in the suppled one is blown?
  • Have you plugged something else (anything) into the same wall socket to make sure it has power?

I know all the above sound simple and patronising but absolutely anyone can get caught out by the most simple things at times.

If it is still truly dead and will not power up, then you may need to arrange for a repair via a Naim retailer.

Hello

Still totally dead can you recommend anyone to repair it in Stoke on Trent area

They can only be repaired at Naim HQ. Speak to your local dealer.

Must say I would never buy another as only just out of warranty and it sounds like it’s a throw away item .

Got this form John Lewis and the will not even help me to get it repair.

Naim should be able to repair it for you. All you need do is get to a Naim dealer who can arrange for it to go back to Naim.

I don’t know if richer sounds in Stoke on Trent will handle an rma for you, but Acoustica in Chester certainly can.

Thank you

I did contact them and was told it will be cheaper to buy a new one .

Not very good saying it’s only just over 2 yrs old and cost me £1340

Who said that? That doesn’t sound right. AFAIK, Naim’s UK price for a Mu-So repair is around £160 and for a Mu-So2 repair is £250.

I’d do that rather than throw it away or buy a new one.
