Hi there, if someone could help me with this, I’d be thrilled.
I have a NAIM amplifier and cd player. The cd player’s remote’s has gone awry last week. The only functional buttons are play, volume level arrows, mute, pause, stop, next and previous. The display, the numbered keys as well as the previous and next arrows are dead. Is there some kind of reset recipe ? My instructions booklet is long gone… Thanks !!
The first thing to do whenever you experience odd behaviour with the remote handset is to remove the old batteries and then try new ones, as strange things can occur as the voltage drops.
Thanks Richard. Switching to new batteries is the first thing I did when the problem arose. It didn’t change anything. I also tried the second remote I have (it came with two when I purchased the machines). I guess it’s some kind of programming thing ?
My remote only has ‘NAIM’ on front and ‘CE’ on the back. No model or number anywhere to be seen. The cd player is CD 5 i and the amp is a NAIM, model NAit5i
It sounds like it might be the dreaded little i-Com remote handset that came with the 5i kit. Not unusual for them to eventually break or stop working by now. Better to get a proper NARCOM remote which should be far more reliable.
My n-SUB remote has done more or less the same. It is quite common for these old i-Com hand remote controls to fail. I’ve had three of them over the years and all have eventually fizzled out.
In your case a replacement NARCOM 5 would be ideal.
Don’t forget that you need to press the cd button to get all of the functionality to operate the cd player. Similarly you press pre to get everything for the amplifier.
