My Naim Uniti Core refuses to rip

I’ve owned my Naim Uniti Core for four or five years. I’ve ripped about 1600 CDs during that time. It has been very reliable until now. Its first symptom of a problem was went I would give it a CD to rip it would immediately spit it back out without taking it all the way in. I gently cleaned the insertion slot with a low strength blower and now it accepts the CD but won’t rip it or return it. I have to force it out.

Has my ripper failed? Is it repairable? Is it costly?

Have you tried a hard reset? Push the power button for 3 seconds to power off, then remove the power cord for 1 minute, reinsert plug and power on again.

Also check that you are on the latest firmware update.

Yes, I’ve done that multiple times. Just downloaded the latest firmware too.

Hello Janet!

Does this happen with any CD or just the latest one you tried to rip? If you try a CD you previously ripped successfully, what happens?

Also how much space do you have on your music store? Is it approaching being nearly full?

  1. Possibly, if none of the above have helped.
  2. Yes, its repairable. The optical drive is a pretty standard piece and the electronics are (to the best of my knowledge) still available for repair.
  3. Well, cheaper than a new or replacement device.

You need to get your dealer to do some troubleshooting for you.

Have you checked your settings and confirmed a recognizable “Music Store” set up? This setting could possibly have been disrupted somehow.

Everything is in order including the latest firmware. It just refuses to rip.

Is it refusing to rip one CD or refusing to rip any CD?
