NAC 32.5 question

Hello.

I have questions regarding a vintage NAC 32.5. Maybe some of you could help me.

The 32.5 has the following cards installed. (please see the first photo)

My question is the following

  1. Currently the card 328/1 is on the left slot, which on my point of view it correspondce to the left Cinch (RSA) connectores at tha back panel, and to the PHONO 1 tiggle on the front panel. all marked in yellow on the two pictures. Is the 328/1 is a CD board?
    Is this correct?

  2. If I would like to use on a later stage the DIN socket “TUNER” (Green on the back panel), could I just move the card 328/1 to the sockets in the middle of the case (green)?

  3. There is also a PHONNO 2 on the back panal and the swith on the front side. Where is this card linked inside the NAC 32.5?

  4. Can I leave some card slots empty inside or should you use a board to “close” these sockets?

thank you, Christian

Yes the 328’s are CD boards, but the Tuner DIN sounds much better.
Remove the 328’s for better sound.

They are variable output cards that where used with cd players

The tuner, tape 1 and tape 2 inputs don’t need cards.

As Igel said. Best to use these inputs for cd or dac or tuner or tape. There is no problem using tape inputs for cd

The cards for phono 2 would be located in the green rectangle.

You can leave phono 1 and phono 2 slots empty if you are not using them.

The Tuner input sounds the best,in my experience.

I prefer the tape input.

If you use a tape input and select monitor, the selector switch (that can be a bit dodgy on equipment of this age) is bypassed.

I was simply advising all three can be used.

Thank you @Igel. Thank you @Fatcat

Now I understand the concept behind it. Currently I would use an old Meridian 506/20 CDP. I need a RCA to DIN cable to connect it to the Tuner or Tape1/2. I will try which of the three (Tunder, Tape1, Tape2) sounds best (to me  )

The 328/1 I will take out and maybe replace it with a bypass 326.

Regards
Christian

I agree, but since upgrading lavender to hi-line, I can’t get the hi-line to connect properly to the tuner input.
