Nac 62/hicap to Nait XS

Would connecting the 62/hicap to an XS-2 , utilising that as just the power amp, offer any great advantage against the xs-2 inbuilt pre?

Probably not, but an easy thing to try if you have all the bits available.

I have a number of spare bits and started by contemplating just adding a supercap to the xs, but then started a train of thought with the other bits sitting unused. :grinning:

I did try a Supercap with a Nait XS when i had a few Naim boxes knocking around. I didn’t think it made a happy combination and took away the qualities that made the Nait XS a rather lovely amp. A Flatcap XS worked better here.

Experiment over. Both a Supercap, and a Hicap DR make the little Nait sound likes its on speed. Very raw and ragged. I shall leave it alone.

My mate said the same so I didn’t even bother trying.
