I want to try a NAC102 (with NASPC) with different, non Naim power amps but I’m confused over which outlets I need to use?
I can see the NAC102 has two DIN outputs - 1 is 4 pin, the other is 5.
Can anyone advise which output I need to use to go to a set of Monoblocks with regular RCA plug inputs? Then I can look into getting the correct cable.
You would normally use the DIN4 output when using it with a Naim power amp (such as a 180) that can supply 24v for the pre-amp. A link plug would be in the DIN5 socket.
To use the 102 with a non Naim power amp, you’ll need a Flatcap or Hicap connected via a SNAIC5 to the DIN5 socket. You use one of the DIN4 outputs on the power supply via a DIN4 to RCA cables to connect to your monoblocks.
The NAPSC is only there to power the logic and switching functions.
I also have a Flatcap with a SNAIC5 but don’t have the link plug the manual is saying. With this in mind, I assume I still need to use the NASPC as well as the Flatcap?
That’s fine - if you have the NAPSC, Flatcap and SNAIC5 then you don’t need the link plug (as per the bottom diagram which shows a Hicap connected - same principle).
